BTW keep in mind that connections may only be shared between threads when they're idle; a connection with a request in flight on it will be pinned to the thread that sent this request, and only other requests coming from the same thread will be able to share this connection. This means that you need to have enough pre-established connections to be sure that in no case you have a thread that ends up with no available connection. As such, if you want to keep the number of connections low, it can make sense to limit the number of threads. Willy
