While I applaud the initiative to turn the documentation into a markup
language... SGML, really? People still use that? Most technical
documentation these days is either in XML via DocBook, or LaTeX.

I assume you are not quite finished? There are numerous problems with
the conversion, mostly tons of missing markup:
