Hi, I came across your site while searching for a software based load balancer solution. We are in the process of implementing a 2-server (Apache web server) solution, which will be running on Linux RedHat Enterprise Advanced v.5.2 on Dell M600/M610 blade hardware. Both Apache web servers will be "internal" (behind the firewall) for an internal application and Oracle database that will be hosted on an HPUX 11x server. The main purpose of the load balanced Apache servers is to take some of the processing load/traffic off of the HPUX server. What "software" based load balancing solution would you recommend, given that we have limited Linux/Apache experience, but want to achieve load balancing? My research tells me that the following are the most popular solutions: HAproxy ( http://haproxy.1wt.eu/ ) [1wt.eu] Distributor ( http://distributor.sourceforge.net/ ) [sourceforge.net] Crossroads ( http://crossroads.e-tunity.com/ ) [e-tunity.com] Pen ( http://siag.nu/pen/ ) [siag.nu] Balance/BalanceNG ( http://www.inlab.de/balance.html ) [inlab.de] Pound ( http://www.apsis.ch/pound/index_html ) [apsis.ch] Thanks.
