Well maybe then you should fire a bug in their bugtracking system.

OK, thanks for confirming. It would be interesting to see the strace output
for one working case and one faulty case (ideally on very similar kernels).
It is possible we have a bug too which is triggered by a backported patch
in their latest kernels.
