Sorry I've been out of office and didn't have time to reply to the list:

I think I found the problem with firefox: I had NoScript enabled,
after completely disabling NoScript (or advanced settings and
disable NoScript ABE).

-> after disabling ABE or NoScript login also works with firefox.

Really dumb mistake ... should have realized that
NoScript scripts "Allow scripts globally" != plugin disabled.

Recent 1.5-dev21 snapshots also work with ssl connection to backend
servers. I think haproxy-ss-20140118 and
BUG/MAJOR: ssl: fix breakage caused by recent fix abf08d9
fixed this for me.
