It didn't but now I understand why. The issue was on my test box under
Debian testing.
There was a mismatch between the libssl packages. I had both
libssl1.0.0, libssl1.0.2 and libssl1.1 but the dev package was
libssl1.0-dev.
Once libssl-dev has been installed (1.1.0e-2), everything worked as
expected. Sorry for the noise ;-)
