It's purposely vague to let people know that when getting close to that
date they should start to seriously think about changing it, while allowing
us to slightly shorten or extend depending on the situation by then.

Yes absolutely. I thought it was clear since 2.0 that even ones are LTS
and odd are not, but maybe this deserves a clarification somewhere.

For now I feel like this new model works fine. We have more testers of
odd versions and less early breakage on LTS versions which are used by
more people, thus with less skills on average to work around the issue
themselves. As long as it works fine I think we can stick to that model.
