Thanks for your reply Adam.
I finally found the Mandriva version of 'rpmbuild' in the Mandriva repository - I had searched but missed it as it is called 'rpm-build'. After installing that and a few more missing libraries I have finally built everything and it is working on Mandriva 2009.
"Hello World" compiles and runs.
I wonder if anyone knows of a 3rd party library with functions equivalent to Clipper Tools III COM functions for RS232, as I notice these are not yet available in harbour?

Maybe you should try to set BUGGY_RPM="yas" hardcoded in mpkg_rpm.sh at line 59.
This is for Connectivia, but maybe it will be nedded for Mandrivia too.
I use openSUSE 11 and in it everything is ok.

best regards,
Adam

I am trying to use the mpkg_rpm_from_svn.sh script but it fails at this
point after quite some time :-
(just the last few lines shown)

A harbour/config/w32/mingw.cf
A harbour/config/w32/pocc.cf
A harbour/obj
U harbour
Checked out revision 9837.
"rpm -b" is deprecated, use "rpmbuild -b"
/usr/lib/rpm/rpmb_deprecated: line 3: exec: rpmbuild: not found
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$

Any help would be appreciated.

System is Mandriva Linux 2008.1 running in VBox (under Mandriva Linux
2009.0)

There must be a lot of them, because I use application written by
Przemek in Harbour, where communication with rs-232 (fiscal printers)
is a must a high priority. So ask Przemek / druzus at acn dot waw dot
pl / for details.....
