With Unicode UTF-8 Alt+A:

char: 195
char: 165

when I press the A, nothing happens pressing Alt

Alt+cursor keys give "normal" K_RIGHT, K_LEFT, K_DOWN, K_UP

Yes, I considered it but putty needs X11 env which is not installed by default.

Probably you can give me some hints: on OS X putty localhost works
while pterm opens but doesn't show the shell prompt but it asks the
confirmation when I close the window.
