IMHO it is a good mix between 'classical' xbase and OOP. It feels like a logical evolution, keeping simplicity of 'old days' and modern elements, not missing the xBase target: Simple and powerful.
The FoxPro 2.x approach was interesting too. It was to allow the programmer to create GUI elements from special @...GET picture strings, doing the transition from console to GUI very simple.
