Why not www server ( like Apache, IIS) work on aplication task ?
As I've said were only some random thoughts and ideas.
I like PHP because (AFAIK) is independient from server platform (making
things simpler) and is widespread, usually included (along MySql) with
any basic hosting service (even free services).
