I think the "COPYING" file is part of standard GPL,
You mean, that a program with GPL license must use
this very filename, otherwise we break the license?
I routinely use LICENSE_<programname>.txt in my
installations to include GPL (and other) licenses,
which seemed okay, but maybe I'm wrong.
and also appear as such in every header in our files,
I vote to leave it as is.
Good point, these will have to changed also, in
case of a rename.
