Hello everybody,
Recently Angel Pais posted an 100% Xbase++ code
application ( only one direct call to hbQT ) which I tried
with hbIDE directly, thinking myself as a newbee to have
fun with it. Below are the steps I employed :
1. Created a shortcut pointing towards E:\harbour\contrib\hbide\hbide.exe
2. In shortcut icon's Properties dialog I changed the "Target" as
E:\harbour\contrib\hbide\hbide.exe
=>
E:\harbour\contrib\hbide\hbide.exe "E:\dev_projects\hbide\hbide.ini"
E:\dev_projects\hbide\hbide.ini is the projects startup file.
3. E:\dev_projects\hbide\ is a folder where I am keeping all projects.
4. Created a subfolder E:\dev_projects\hbide\angel_pais\ to keep
Angel's project files, sources only. Downloaded project sources
and unzipped in this folder.
5. Clicked on shortcut icon on desktop and invoked hbIDE.
6. Blank, no projects yet.
7. Right-clicked on "Projects" tree node, and selected "New Project",
Project Properties Dialog opens.
8. Filled the fields as:
Project Title: Angel Pais - Amigo WQ
Location: E:/dev_projects/hbide/angel_pais
Working Folder :
Destination :
Output Name : amigo
Compile Link Flags :
9. In sources tab:

10. Pushed <Save and Exit> - I could see this project
under "Executables" node.
11. Right-clicked on "Angel Pais - Amigo" node and selected
"Build Project".
12. In "Output Console" I received :

13 :((- Nothing happened. I knew what is the reason -
hbIDE.exe desktop shortcut was unaware of Harbour
and Qt's environment. So,
14. I opened the development console where Harbour and Qt's
environment is fired with a batch file, i.e., harbour/contrib/hbide.
15. I executed
E:\harbour\contrib\hbide\hbide.exe "E:\dev_projects\hbide\hbide.ini"
on the command line, hbIDE appeared on the screen.
16. Repeated step 11.
17. Received in Output Console:

18. A quick look revealed that I had missed to include hbXBP and hbQT
libraries.
19. Opned the "Project Properties" dialog and entered as:

24. Output Console distictly highlighyed the following line in red:

25. I double-clicked on this highlited line and receved message-box showing
this message:
"File type unknown or unsupported: AppMain.o"
26. Looking at highlighted line I grasped that this error is the result of
compiling
sources without -w3 switch.
27. Opened the "Properties" dialog and entered this switch as:

33. Right-clicked on "Angel Pais - Amigo" node and selected "Launch", the

34. WOW, I could see the amigo.exe in action.
I know that this will not happen if you have not setup your environment to
compile with hbQT and Qt dlls are not known to the hbIDE. At present this is
the only
missing feature in hbIDE to centralize your all projects. I will address
this issue
shortly after covering some editing features which are a MUST in an IDE.
Hope that above case-study will facilitate beginers to adopt hbIDE, may be
in a limited manner, for their few of the projects.
