I agree with you, Andy, but alas, there is nothing new under the sun. When I started DXing in the mid-50's - which means that I am already part of this group of grumpy old men - I noticed why certain non-DXers (i.e. they never produced a listening tip) sometimes would win the QSL collecting contests that were legion in club magazines at the time just by sending report where they quoted the World Radio Handbook. One example, which I heard one lucky winner brag about (I can reveal his name and the club, if anyone is interested...) was the Trinidad Broadcasting Company which was on 3275 kHz at the time. In order to obtain a QSL-card the following detail, all obtainable from the WRH, would do, '02.00 station identification and relay of the news from the BBC, and at 02.20 a programme of musical requests, at 03.00 close down.' (I am quoting the programme info listed in the 1956 edition of the WRH). Henrik Klemetz
