comentarios entre canciones. Seal dbil, pero perfectamente audible desde las 2302 a
las 0030. 24322 (Mendez June 1)

BRAZIL 4754.3 R. Educacao (Rural) 0020 Very weak @ tune in, improving by ToH, and
going well at 0130. Popular style OM anncr in PP w/echo effect, advertisements,
numerous ment. of "Educacao" including some drawn-out echo style statements, ID @
0044. Fair copy overall. (Heller Jun 1)
4825 Radio Cancao Nova 0020 with OM in Portuguese at 23232 (Prokhorov May 29) 0105 ID
@ 0105 tune in by YL in popular broadcast style, then comments from OM anncr in PP,
and abruptly off the air. Not sure if s/off or technical difficulties. My reception
was limited to about two minutes. Fair signal and copy despite annoying sweeper QRM
this evening. (Heller Jun 1)

(Mendez May 31)
11780 R. Nacional (Amazonia) 1106 ID @ 1110, during break from telephone interview,
that continued for 15 minutes. Fair to good signal but tough copy due to adjacent
channel QRM from Dr. Scott and co-channel Asian station, pres. Beijing. (Heller May 30)

CUBA 11760 Radio Nacional de Venezuela 2325 "Antena internacional de Radio
Nacional de Venezuela". "Radio Nacional de Venezuela presenta: Un momento
en nuestra historia". "Escuchan Venezuela Internacional". 34333. (May 31)

GERMANY 7265 Sudwestrundfunk 0457 Only fair to good, YL and OM anncrs in GG, jingles
and pres. ads, ID @ ToH followed by mx. (Heller May 29)

GHANA 4915 Ghana BC Corp 0543 Fair to good signal, usual static crashes, Afro pop mx
non-stop to ID in EE @ ToH as "Radio Ghana in Accra...", followed by drumming and time
pips. (Heller May 29)

INDONESIA 4870.83 RRI Sorong 0914-0930 Noted this one presenting the Qu'ran
from tune in at 0914. Afterwards at 0925 a man with comments. The signal was fair
strength during the Qu'ran, but faded to poor by 0930 (Bolland Jun 4)
11860.9v RRI Jakarta 1400-1700 Programa Tiga on split frequency of v11860.9 wandering
to 11861.0. From 1500 to 1600 many live phone interviews heard in Bahasa Indonesia,
followed by smooth music from 1600 to 1700 UTC, like Elvis Presley's "Love me tender".
(Bueschel May 29)

MALI 5995 RTV Mali 0605 Neat mx common to this area, simple guitar and percussion. It
was my impression this was an in-studio performance as the YL singer spoke between
selections. Good signal this evening and some of the best copy I have heard lately.
One of my favorite stations when available due to great mx. (Heller May 29)

MEXICO 9705 XERMX Radio Mexico Internacional 0205 Msica clsica y mexicana,
Identificacin: "RMI Radio Mxico Internacional, 9705 KHz". "Msica original RMI".
Seal dbil y con interferencia. 23222. (Mendez June 1)

PAPUA NEW GUINEA 4960 CRN 0958-1300 first noted just above threshold level with male &
female talk in English. "Hail Mary, Full of Grace" prayers by two people in unison at
1001. Flute music, then PNG sing-sing style of music at 1004. Signal improved to fair
over the next half hour, with apparent BBC relay of two Brit-accented announcers to
1027, mentioning "Media(?) World News" and "BBC" and also "Radio New Zealand" at 1028.
Vatican Radio interval signal at 1029, followed by xylophone & drums. Many mentions of
Papua New Guinea by male & female announcers 1030-1032. Signal continued to improve
slowly to Vatican Radio IS again at 1040. Devotion prayer reading 1045, Vatican IS at
1059, then clear ID by female "This is the Catholic Radio Network of Papua New Guinea"
at 1059:50, followed by song "Thy Loving Kindness" and instrumental tunes. ID again at
1110 in English followed by mention of Rabaul, but the female announcer switched to
Tok Pisin at this point. By 1130 CRN's signal had improved to very good, with a mix of
male announcer in Tok Pisin and contemporary religious music to dead air from 1200:40
to 1201:08. Religious tunes continued uninterrupted to 1245, when a recorded mass or
devotional segment from the Vatican was introduced by two male announcers. If this
very good signal continues, it will be easily audible on the East Coast of the USA...
better try for CRN before Wayne Wilson of TE-PNG tweaks the antenna system! (Atkins
Jun 4)

PARAGUAY 9737v R. Nacional 0048 Good signal but annoying modulation hum, many jingles
and pres. ads in SS, two full IDs at ToH, but VOA jammer QRM starts at 0056 from
adjacent channel 9735, and by 0101, tough copy for Paraguay, but still readable by
tuning passband up. Indeed, seemed to tune better a lit off frequency to offset that
hum. (Heller Jun 1)

PERU 4746 Radio Huanta 2000 0035with cumbias and chichas, station slogans right on the
songs "Huanta, Huanta, Huanta Dos Mil !!!", 34433 (Prokhorov May 30)
4955 Radio Cultural Amauta 0025 with light mx in Spanish, all 4s (Prokhorov May 30)
5678 Radio Ilucan 0050-0155, too much Spanish talks, occasional chicha mx, 2/3 4333.
Heard them years ago on 5620 (Prokhorov May 30)

ZAMBIA 4965 Christian Voice 0003 Weak signal, improving to fair over next 30 minutes
but static crashes; relig mx and OM anncr in EE, alternating talk and mx. ID @ 0022
"This is the Christian Voice..." Copy readable at best. (Heller Jun 1)
