"Just an after thought"
I erected an inverted vee yesterday, tying it's ends to the metal fence on one side of my yard. I still have to get some more rope and do a better arrangement with the ends. The legs are about 100 feet each. It's height is probably 50 feet up in a pine. Comparing this antenna with the other three that I use on the low HF bands, the gain of the inverted vee's signal does not seem to be any better, but I have noticed a significant decrease in the noise. Allowing me to copy the signal clearly in most cases.
