The latest radio technology, `Worldspace Satellite Radio', has seen a wide acceptance among Indian radio listeners and an increase of 50 per cent in the subscription of this satellite radio service.
Worldspace had 21,000 subscribers in March 05, which saw a five fold increase to 74,574 in the fourth quarter of same year and another 50 per cent by march 06 to stand at a base of 1,11,723 subscribers. "The growth in subscriber base can be attributed to three factors, an extensive communications campaign and a raising awareness for the concept of satellite radio, growing appreciation of the USP of the satellite radio medium in India and an aggressive promotional campaign," Wordspace Satellite Radio managing director, Shishir Lall told mediapersons. The festive offer launched in October 2005 with revised rates on subscription and the entry level diva receiver helped us penetrate the market and get people to sample the Worldspace service, he added. Increasing the penetration is still a challenge to the company and the primary goal would be to educate people on the value proposition offered by satellite radio as a medium and is undertaking an integrated communications campaign fronted brand ambassador A R Rahman, said Lall. Currently the service is available in 22 locations across the country with the metro markets of Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Kochi tuning in large numbers. ======================= Source:http://www.zeenews.com/znnew/articles.asp?rep=2&aid=321538&ssid=54&sid=BUS ======================= +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jaisakthivel Chennai, India. __________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
