LATVIA 9290 Not a peep from any of the relays here this morning in the 0655-0802 time frame. Then again I may not have had the antenna tuned exactly either!! (Valko 18 August)
PAPUA NEW GUINEA 3334.97 R. East Sepik 1014-1033 Baby When You Talk to Me by The Outfield, then live M anncr w/song anmnt, short canned ad bhy W along w/same live M mentioning 5 ooclock and PNG, then back to mx w/pleasant island Pop song, 1020 M anncr again w/song anmnts, and cont. mx w/More Than a Feeling by Boston. Has drifted down from the usual 3335 since the last time Ive hrd it. Best PNG on 90 meters. Also noted the 120 mb Aussies doing well, 2850 N. Korea, and a signal from pres. RRI Gorontalo on 3266.44. (Valko 18 August 2007) INDONESIA 3987.06 RRI Manokwari (pres.) 1036-1103 Nonstop Indo Pops amid Ham QRM. Finally deep-voiced M anncr came on at 1059 but was covered almost immediately by Ham. What sounded like a stn signature melody followed, then M anncr again, but Hams made it impossible to copy. Different M anncr after 1100, pres. nx. Indos doing pretty well for a middle of August morning. Fading though. (Valko 18 August) USA (ALASKA) 7370 KNLS While looking for Wantok R. Light, found OC here around 1033. Noted OC all the way to the ToH. Came back at 1102 and found 2 stns at equal lvl. VOA in SP and KNLS playing soft Rel. vcl song sounding very much like Meatloaf!! Got KNLS ID call at 1106 after song. KNLS would be decent without the VOA QRM. Tnx Glenn Hauser tip. (Valko 18 August) JAPAN 9695 R.J. Weak in EG at 1115 w/feature by M. Many ments of Japan and Tokyo and what sounded like a Samurai first in .. Different pgm segment at 1117 w/conversation by anncrs. Another co-channel stn was taking over for a time while this faded a bit. Also had a carrier on 9694.96 which may have been Brazil. (Valko 18 August) NEW ZEALAND 9655 R.N.Z. National Svc 1123 Alright Now by Free, 1024 M anncr w/song anmnt, ID, then song anmnt and another song from 1975. 1127 brief song anmnt, and into I Never Promised You a Rose Garden.
