Peru, 6193.37, Radio Cuzco,(Pres), 1135-1145 Barely audible here. Noted a
female in SP comments and this only when the signal faded in briefly. (Chuck
Bolland, August 30, 2007)

**ANGOLA. 4949.96, (t) R Angola 'Canal A', Mulenvos, Aug 28 0350 -
decent strength signal but poor modulation, very little audio heard.
Transmitter off at 0354 and back at 0407. No 0511 UTC sunrise at
transmitter enhancement noted, and carrier faded below noise floor at
0600 UTC (Jordan-TN)

**BENIN. 5024.94, (t) R Parakou, Parakou, AUg 28 0447 - perhaps the one
here turning transmitter on at 0447 while Rebelde was off. Unfortunately
Rebelde back at 0500 w/ OC until 0510, then into broadcast. (Jordan-TN)

**BOTSWANA. 4930.00, VOA, Selebi-Phikwe, Aug 28 0350-0602* - fair signal
with English VOA programming. Carrier still visible above noise floor to
verify 0602* s/off. (Jordan-TN)

**BURKINA FASO. 5030.01, R Burkina, Ouagadougou, Aug 28 *0538 - s-on
with traditional African vocal then into news by man in French at 0542.
More local music/drums at 0550. Female announcer at 0600 with Radio
Burkina ID and announcements. Surprisingly good despite co-channel
University Network on 5030.02.(Jordan-TN)

**CONGO (KINSHASA). 5066.34, (p) R Candip, Bunia, Aug 28 *0402 - S-on
with traditional African vocal by female into talk by man in possibly
French at 0405, inaudible from 0410. Threshold audio, best at s/on and
steadily fading as Bunia sunrise was 0357 UTC. (Jordan-TN)

**EQUATORIAL GUINEA. 5005.00, R Bata, Bata, Aug 28 - no sign of R Bata
here at listed 0500 s/on or after. (Jordan-TN)

**MADAGASCAR. 5010.7v, (p) R Malagasy, Antananarivo, Aug 28 0350 - easy
going island sounding vocals, male announcer in lang at 0400. Mainly
poor, transmitter steadily drifting from 5010.79 at tune in down to
5010.72 by 0500. Station stayed on past listed 0500 s/off. (Jordan-TN)

**SAO TOME. 4960.00, VOA, Pinheira, 0350 - OOC at tune-in, Yankee Doodle
IS at 0359 into English VOA programming, Hausa at 0500, French at 0530
and still weakly audible at 0630*. Transmitter back on at 0638 w/ OC but
much too weak for audio at listed 0700 Hausa. (Jordan-TN)

**UGANDA. 4975.97, R Uganda, Kampala, Aug 28 0350-0533* - English
programming from tune-in, lots of monologues by male then female. Slowly
fading down beginning 0415, possible Swahili. Carrier still visible
above noise floor to verify 0533* s/off. (Jordan-TN)

5026.00, R Uganda, Kampala, Aug 28 - no sign of R Uganda here in quite a
while. (Jordan-TN)

**ZAMBIA. 4965.00, Voice Africa, Lusaka, Aug 28 0350-0556* - English
with various music and African news at 0400 and 0500. Fair to poor as
signal began slowly fading from 0500. CODAR less bothersome in LSB.

**ANGOLA. 7216.77 (p) R Nacional Angola, Mulenvos, AUG 30 0112 - low
modulation, best in USB, threshold audio with African pop vocals, talk
by woman in lang, barely audible. Transmitter having issues, leaving air
multiple times over the evening for anywhere from a few minutes to 15+
minutes at a time. (Jordan-TN)

**BURKINA FASO. 7230.00 (t) R Burkina, Ouagadougou, AUG 30 *0801 - s/on
with stringed instrument then lively female in lang, African pops. Poor
and fading fast. (Jordan-TN)

**CHINA. 7274.99 CNR8/PBS Xinjiang, Urumqui, AUG 30 *0603-0714* and
*0758-1215 - possibly PBS Xinjiang relaying CNR8 here in presumed Uighar
from *0603 s/on with program in progress. Poor with monologues by man
and woman, Asian music and suddenly off at 0714*. Back on at 0738 w/ OC
until PBS Xinjiang IS at 0758. Major QRM from DW DRM via Wooferton at
0800 until it faded out around 0850. Still audible at 1215 end of SDR
recording. Aoki lists PBS Xinjiang here from 0300-1200 relaying CNR8
from 0600-0700, and Eibi has CNR8 from 0600-0700 and PBS Xinjiang from
0700-1500 and finally HFCC lists Urumqui here from 2300-1800. (Jordan-TN)

**ERITREA. 7174.98 (p) VoBME, Asmara, AUG 30 *0353 - OC from 0350 into
possible NA at *0353, then monologue by man then woman in lang. Lower
modulation combined with much stronger UNID on 7175 playing non-stop HoA
type pop vocals until 0503 made for poor signal. In the clear after 0503
although too weak for audio. (Jordan-TN)

**ETHIOPIA. 7110.005 R Ethiopia, Gedja, AUG 30 *0259-0454* -
Transmitter on at 0246 w/ OC until *0259, brief IS (stringed instrument)
into presumed Amharic with s/on announcement and ID "reyd-e-yo
It-yop-iyah" by man then 3 church bells at 0300, announcement, Ethiopian
pop vocal into monologue until 0330, ID then into news with many reports
from correspondents. 0454* s/off without fanfair. Very good signal in
USB but starting to fade after 0400. (Jordan-TN)

**MALI. 7285.65 (t) R Mali, Bamako, AUG 30 *0800 - Possible brief IS
into long monologue by male in likely Arabic. Poor signal with muffled
audio. (Jordan-TN)

**SUDAN. 7200.00 R Omdurman, Al Fitahab, AUG 30 *0231 - s/on with
traditonal vocal accompanied by drum, then announcements by man in
Arabic mentioning Omdurman. Monologues mixed with traditional vocals
until 0300, then long discussions. Fair signal until mixing with R
Bulgaria from 0300. (Jordan-TN)

**TUNISIA. 7275.00 R Tunisia, Sfax, AUG 30 *0259-0530* - OC from 0254
into *0259 s/on in Arabic with announcement by man, Koran recitation
from 0301 until 0319, into talks and vocals. Huge signal. Listed as
HFCC: 0400-0800, EiBi: 0400-0530 and Aoki: 0400-0700. (Jordan-TN)

**UNID. 7175.00 UNID, AUG 30 *0353-0503* - OC from 0343 then directly
into non-stop HoA-style pop vocals at 0353. Occasional 1-2 minute
silence between songs. Very strong, over co-channel R Liberty (until
0403*) and presumed VoBME. No announcements and suddenly left the air at
0503*. I presumed this was an Ethiopia jammer, so was surprised by the
0503*. (Jordan-TN)

Jim,

You are really on a roll! WIRL 1290, not as good of a channel for me,
but DXable. It will be interesting if this one will come through as it
used to be a regular MMs back in the 60s and early 70s.
Great going!!!

Patrick
