I just would like to add that the Berlin Britz transmitter was damaged by fire a short while ago, so Deutschlandradio management had to decide whether to repair the site or not. Apparently, the latter decision was taken because the investment was not regarded proportional to the actual and the potential number of listeners on shortwave. Internet streaming plays a much more important role in transmitting radio programmes abroad these days, while internet activities are, by the way, supported by the latest jurisdiction of the German Constitutional Court backing public financing of public service radio stations, although there is enormous pressure on German radio to lower costs. Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio Kultur are the only two radio programmes in Germany that provide a country-wide service. Deutschlandradio is one radio station providing these two programmes. This is why there is only one internet website at <http://www.dradio.de/> for both programmes.
