---------------------------------

largo:
http://www.canalparadis.net/homeespanol.html (id a canal docs, seleccionad
waves of liberty y de alli al trailer)

y de propina, alguna foto del rodaje

The Shortwave Report 9/28/07 ?Listen Globally!
by Dan Roberts ( outfarpress [at] saber.net )
http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2007/09/27/18450143.php
Thursday Sep 27th, 2007 6:12 PM

A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion, recorded from a
shortwave radio. With times and freqs for listening at home. 2 files-
broadcast and slow-modem streaming. Free to rebroadcast. China,
Netherlands, Cuba, and Russia.

Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (September 28) is up at the website
http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both
broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form
(4.9MB) (28:59)

This week's show features stories from China Radio International,
Radio Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
>From CHINA- At the UN General Assembly in New York a high-level
meeting on combatting global warming called for all nations to act now-
G Bush did not attend. Brazilian president Lula daSilva denounced
agricultural protectionism. The Iranian president said Iran would not
launch an attack on any other country and that he does not believe the
US is preparing to attack Iran.
>From NETHERLANDS- A press review about the continuing protests in
Myanmar, formerly Burma, led by Buddhist monks. Then an insight into
why the Buddhist monks have so much respect in Myanmar- many of
the troops have spent time being monks. Fidel Castro returned to public
view last weekend, ending speculation that he had died- his brother
Raul is leading the nation and has asked the Cuban people for advice
on economic reform, while seeking a dialogue with US leaders.
>From CUBA- Some US troops in Iraq have been placing fuses and
other potential bomb components in the street and then hiding to see
who picks them up- whoever carries the "baited" pieces away is then
killed, according to the Washington Post.
>From RUSSIA- The Pentagon has tripled the amount they want
budgeted for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dick Cheney had
considered asking Israel to launch missiles on Iran to provoke a
retaliation and an excuse for the US to attack. Washington wants to
continue expanding NATO, and Rudy Guliani recently suggested that
Israel join the organization. A commentary on Geo Bush?s speech on
human rights at the UN General Assembly.

There is an article about the Shortwave Report by Cassandra Roos on
line at- http://www.campusprogress.org/soundvision/780/big-stories-
shortwaves

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek,
available at http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to
rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me
in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If
you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming
version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you
don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem
because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20
minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application
(RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your
computer.
This program will be aired on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm (PDST) on
KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via
There are several other streams that work better- <
http://www.freakradio.org >Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this
program on Friday at 9:00am and Monday at 5:30pm(PDST)
The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from <
http://www.radio4all.net/podcast.php/.xml?series=outFarpress%20pres
ents > or iTunes (search for "shortwave" in podcasts)
Check out the amazing streams at < http://www.radicalradio.org >
And Radio For Peace International at < http://www.rfpi.org >

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station.. I
am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I
put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations
rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production
costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that
have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)

** COLOMBIA. Marfil Est?reo, 5910 (just a smidgen on the low side), Sept 28 at
0525 with ID and timecheck for 12:31, then kid singing off-key, with harp
accompaniment. After 0530 marred by splatter from WBOH 5920 as it went from
music to preaching. If M.E. can`t even get timechex right to less than 6
minutes, how can we take their religion seriously? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA [and non]. R. Verdad, 4052.5, Sept 30 at 0555 already playing
national anthem, horrible version by shrill off-key children`s choir, many
stanzas, off at 0559* without further announcement. This is a beautiful piece
of music I hate to hear ruined. Seek out a professional version of it with a
great tenor or professional choir. One can Google up many versions of it;
Here`s a midi with the lyrix displayed:
http://mi-guatemala.tripod.com/Himno.html

In fact, I love many Latin American national anthems, notably Mexico,
Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Colombia, Venezuela, tho seldom get to hear
any of them any more on SW; except Mexico, every midnight local on every MW &
SW station (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDONESIA. Yet another problem at VOI, 9525. Sept 28 at 1315 during Korean
hour, bits of audio cut on and off at the rate of about 132 per minute.
Monitored this for two or three minutes and then moved on to Radio Australia
with no such problem. 1351 recheck, VOI was OK in Korean (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non]. NHK Warido via Sackville 11705, is normally QRM-free, but Sept
28 at 1332 I could hear something under it, maybe in Portuguese as I thought I
heard Brasil mentioned a couple times. But then checking EiBi, the only
possibility is:

11705 1530-1630 Sa G BBC SWA EAf /SEY
BBC in Swahili via South Africa, on Saturdays only, which would explain why I
haven`t noticed it on other days. From Oct NHK will switch to English at
1400-1430 so that could also be a QRM problem on Saturdays (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non]. NHK Warido, R. Japan, final one-hour broadcast to NAm at 0500
on 6110 via Canada, Sept 30: tune-in at 0545 during World Interactive. Quite a
lot of QRM from off-frequency CVC Chile, and seemingly a third station,
probably Colombia Marfil/Conciencia leapfrog, one of them producing a low het
and the other a slightly higher one. Of course, Sackville itself could be
off-frequency as verified on various other transmissions, but did not try to
measure it. The QRM with music was especially annoying as beating against NHK
it made the music off-pitch. Unfortunately, NHK is sticking with this
unfortunate situation in the new schedule reduced to 0500-0530 only, still on
6110 via Canada! Don`t they get any reception reports complaining of the QRM??

We have been wondering if World Interactive will survive the October 1 cuts, as
no English transmission will be longer than 30 minutes and some will be only 20
minutes. Apparently it will, because the YL & YL hosts were chatting, asking
for e-mail input, and next week`s program would include the regular World of
Haiku feature (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** LAOS [non]. WHRI 11785, Sat Sept 29 around 1330 with that wonderful solo
singing, leaping an octave up and down, from Hmong Lao Radio. Later, into
rustic instrumental music with the barnyard background sounds. After OCS and
ID, at 1400 switched to Hmong World Christian Radio. Presumably for a semi-hour
only; I keep missing the 1430 break, but at 1455 recheck WHRI was back to
gospel rock in English fill. Yes, as of Sept 29, WHR online schedule finally
shows HWCR both Sat & Sun 1400-1430 on 11785 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** MADEIRA [non]. RDPI, 15560, best signal direct from Europe on 19m, Sunday
Sept 30 at 1354 with Abra?o da Madeira show, interrupted briefly for QSY
announcement upcoming at hour top, 12020 to 11905; phone call from Canada, 1400
news break. This is for the diaspora from Madeira, which seems to be more than
you would expect from such a small island, scheduled 1211-1400 on Sundays
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 4770, awfully muffled and distorted talk, 0552 Sept 30; could not
be sure of the language. Are they trying to outdo VON? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. I have been noting lately zero reception from WBCQ 18910-CLSB,
especially when I check it Wednesdays 2300-2330 when WORLD OF RADIO is
scheduled. However, Friday Sept 28 at 2130 it was coming in well with gospel
rock, so propagation (or operation?) certainly does vary. Per WBCQ website
http://www.zappahead.net/wbcq/main.php?fn=sked&freq=18910 this frequency is
scheduled:
Sun 13-21
M-F 17-23 [Wed -2330 with WOR]
Sat 00-01 [AWWW]
Sat 17-22
Except as indicated, all gospel-huxters. Allan Weiner tells me he would like to
move this to 13 or 15 MHz band but can`t find any available frequency, since
OOB authorizations have been cut back following 9/11. Seems to me some ought to
be possible for segments unlike fulltime on 7415 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WBOH, 5920, Sept 28 at 0520, usual gospel music, but
noticed there was a SAH varying from 0 to about 4 Hz; could not detect any
other audio, however, but this indicates another carrier was present. Nothing
else scheduled in the usual lists; but during Sept only, Kvitsoy, Norway is
scheduled in DRM at 0600-0700, 65 kW, 190 degrees. Possibly a warmup for that?

Then at 0530 WBOH went to talk from Sheldon Smith, Sword of the Lword, and
started splattering, bothering 5910 Marfil Est?reo which had no problem before
0530 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ###

I'm the one in Christchurch NZ yep 2am goes to 3am and 3am reverts to 2am.
At least we got off to a good start ... the beginning of DST is usually
marked by a wet, cold southerly change. This time it was fine and 22C.

Paul
