Russia, 5960, Radiostantsiya Tikhiy Okean, 0937-1000 Missed the opening by a couple of minutes, but at 0937 noted brief Russian comments until 0938 when singing presented. This is followed with Russian comments by various persons and more music. Seems to be a different format this morning. Usually the program consists of steady commentary and news with just a short period of music at the end of the schedule. Today there's hardly any serious news and mostly music. The cause may be the fact that it's Saturday? As the 25 minute schedule continues, the signal strength improves from a poor to good. (Chuck Bolland, January 5, 2008)
Bolivia, 5996.40, Radio Loyola, 0950-1005, Steady Spanish comments during the period by three persons until 0956 when music is presented. At 1000 a male gives live ID as, "...Radio Loyola ..." during comments. At this point in time (1000 UTC) splatter begins so overwhelm Radio Loyola to a point that it is only audible for short periods. The result is that Loyola was fair at the beginning and ended up poor. (Chuck Bolland, January 5, 2008) Bolivia, 6134.80, Radio Santa Cruz, 1007-15, At tune in, noted seasonal music while a male comments in Spanish over the music. The message is seasonal greetings while the music continues. This is followed with canned promos which included an ID as, "... Santa Cruz ...". Full ID at 1010, " ... Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz la monte ..." or something like that? Live comments by a male at 1013 between musical selections. Signal was good. (Chuck Bolland, January 5, 2008) Peru, 5039.17, Radio Libertad, 1103-1115 Barely audible here, but noted a male in Spanish comments at beginning and then into music. Plenty of noise and splatter here. Radio Libertad disappears into the mud after a few minutes.
