Here's the answer regarding QSLs for the upcoming HAARP moonbounce tests.
Good news for us wallpaper hangers.
I've also asked about reporting with audio recordings. I'll forward any
reply I get on this question too.

Jim,
Thanks for your inquiry. Well - I guess we'll have to get some QSL
cards printed up. We have the standard ones but the moon bounce test
deserves a unique design.
Thanks for the reminder.

KKMO DX Test Final Report
Perhaps Barry McLarnon in Ottawa summed it up best in an e-mail: "I
think we easterners got done in by mediocre conditions, not to mention the
zillions of other stations on 1360." Still, quite a few folks on the west
coast and as far east as the Rockies heard the test quite well. Here's the
roll call of lucky listeners who put KKMO in their logs:
Frank Aden - Boise, ID
Bruce Bacon - Boise County, ID
Martin Foltz - Mission Viejo, CA
Mike Hawkins - Campbell, CA
Wayne Heinen - Aurora, CO
Patrick Martin - Seaside, OR
Nick Hall-Patch - Victoria, BC, Canada
Art Peterson - Richmond, CA
Nigel Pimblett - Lamont, AB, Canada
Bruce Portzer - Seattle, WA
Steve Ratzlaff - NE Oregon
Dan Riordan - Sherwood, OR
Walt Salmaniw - Victoria, BC, Canada
Dennis Vroom - Salmon Creek, WA (on a trusty SRF-59)
Special congratulations to Bjarne Mjelde in Berlevag, Norway, on hearing the
test. Although a relog for him, I was delighted to see this international
participation from outside North America in our test efforts. Thanks Bjarne.
Thanks also to all the "east of the Rockies" bunch who tried their best
to hear the test, including Willis Monk-TN, Steve Francis-TN, Curtis
Sadowski-IL, Doug Smith-TN, Paul LaFreniere-MN, Bill Dvorak-WI, Saul
Chernos-ON, Bruce Winkelman-OK, Marc DeLorenzo-MA, J.D. Stephens in AL and
yours truly also in TN.
And although Barry McLarnon didn't manage to log KKMO, he says he did
catch another "KK" station - namely KKBJ in Bemidji, MN - a new one for him.
Remember to keep checking the DXTESTS.INFO Web site frequently and
listen to the BTC Podcasts for news and late-breaking developments.

South Korea to air English language FM radio:
(15-Jan-08)
The South Korean government plans to launch a new FM English radio
broadcaster in major cities as early as this year for foreigners
staying in Korea and students studying English. This will expand
English FM radio nationwide from Jeju Island, which alone has
operated a service.
The presidential transition team said that the Ministry of
Information and Communication suggested allowing Arirang Radio to
broadcast programmes in English, delivering news and information on
the weather, traffic and tours.
Alongside foreigner-targeted programmes, there will be English
education programmes for students.
"We believe allowing the broadcasting will give people the chance to
choose what they want to listen to. Also, it will be a good tool to
promote a foreigner-friendly image of Korea," Park Yoon-hyun, a
ministry official, said.
Private firms will run the broadcasting stations, but in areas
considered unprofitable, state-subsidies will be available. The
government will determine the allocation of frequencies later reports
The Korea Times.

RNW to tailor radio content for local stations:
By Shalabh
Radioandmusic.com
(17 January, 2008)
MUMBAI: RNW (Radio Netherlands Worldwide), an independent multimedia
company based in Holland, plans to create local content for Indian
private FM stations customized to local preferences.
RNW's Country Representative Amitabh Srivastava says, "First of all,
we want to get a clear picture of what's needed in the Indian market.
We do not want to impose our existing programming as-is on our
potential partners. Instead we are looking for ways to come up with
hybrid programming, shaped in close cooperation with our partners,
containing interesting information from a more global ad Dutch
perspective, complemented by material produced locally in India, thus
combining the best of both worlds."
RNW is present on shortwave (SW) and Wprldspace, but the response is
not encouraging, "Due to the increase in the number of FM stations in
India, our shortwave audience is declining. Instead, we are now
seeking partnerships with Indian radio stations. We think this is the
right time since there are so many new radio stations starting up in
India. RNW already has partnerships with 3000+ radio stations
worldwide. We have a lot of experience in working through this model.
We will be distinguishing ourselves by thinking globally, but acting
locally" expounds Srivastava.
It also plans to explore possibilities in other multimedia platforms
like DTH, mobile and cable.

Trans World Radio's new transmitting station in Benin will broadcast
for the first time on 1 February. TWR hopes the station will be
automated within three months. They will be broadcasting programs
from local churches and ministries.
With at least 15 languages reaching into 9 countries, they will be
able to reach areas that are difficult to reach, such as northern
Nigeria. The potential listening audience is 63 million.
Though the date is approaching for the first broadcast, there are
still needs. "We are looking for at least one more staff member.
We've got a builder there and an engineer there right now. We really
need some support there for them. It's a tough place to be. We are a
pioneering missionary there," said Alary. They are 35 miles out of
town, and the nearest town has no electricity."
The station, at Parakou, will broadcast on mediumwave 1566 kHz with a
power of 100 kW.

18 Jan at 1402 UTC while scanning the bands, noted
presumed National Anthem on 8728 USB. This was
followed by female announcer "This is Monaco Radio.."
She gave the sched of weather forecasts. At the end
"...brought to you by the Principality of Monaco and Naya"
Gave website www.naya.mc then Anthem and off.
The HF sched was a mixture of French time and GMT.
I guess it was like this:
Western Med 0930, 1403, 1930 French time (should then
be 0830, 1303, 1830 UTC)
Eastern Med 1030 GMT
Atlantic 0930 GMT
All on channels 403, 804, 1224 and 1607 which means frequencies
4363, 8728, 13146 and 17260.
As earlier reported by others, Monaco Radio didn't sign-off
at the end of 2007 but is still audible.

** CUBA. The latest in the never-ending series of operational errors at RHC was
another beneficial one, allowing us to hear R. Musical Nacional programming on
SW, as has occasionally happened before at this time. But don`t expect it to
happen exactly like this the next night, or ever again ---
Jan 17 at 0640, RHC in English on 6000 talking about, what else? You know what
--- was underlain by a coloratura soprano. This was not the case on 6060 which
had RHC English only. Normally there is no significant co-channel QRM to 6000
at this hour, but the same mix was also on 6180, so that`s a red flag that the
audio was not from another transmitter, but from the same transmitters in Cuba,
with a mixture of audio feeds going into them, and consequently out of them.
Sure enough, at 0659 on 6000, just as RHC was closing, I heard a Radio Musical
Nacional ID; both cut off at 0700 as that frequency went off the air. But 6060,
which had not had RMN before 0700, stayed on the air with nothing but RMN, at
full modulation, with program as scheduled ``La ?pera``. Announcer spoke for
some time, plugging other shows including Teatro de la Opera, but never giving
the time, which would feature Tha?s. Then some classic recordings (originally
78s?) of a singer whose name I didn`t recognize or catch. This was still going
at 0734.
Meanwhile I checked 6180 again at 0718. RMN was also heard there, but now
mixing with yet another Cuban domestic network, this one with talk, keywords
``mesa redonda``, ``poder popular``. 6180 had an additional SAH, probably
Amaz?nia (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** ECUADOR. Stop the presses! HCJB may have finally caught on that for the last
few years, they have been automatically announcing the wrong frequencies for
their morning Spanish broadcast. I checked 11960 Jan 18 at 1359, 1429 and 1459,
and instead of the Einstein- or other notable pseudo-evangelical quotations
plus frequencies, I heard all three times the formerly alternating ID break
consisting of quena and HCJB`s mailing address instead. They still don`t have
the automation co?rdinated properly, as the tail end of the previous program
gets cut off for the ID at 30 seconds before the hour and half hour. But I
won`t be satisfied until I hear a new announcement with the correct
frequencies, 11690 and 11960 instead of 11760 (which was never correct), and
9745.
15270-15275-15280 DRM, Jan 18 at 1425, sounding just like the Dentro-Cuban
jamming on 15330, 15710. Presumably HCJB 4 kW testing DRM again on its usual 19
mb frequencies. Those who invented DRM should have made it sound less like
jamming on an analog receiver; bad PR this way.
DRM-DX schedule checked a couple sesquihours later still shows HCJB DRM only at
11-12 UT, German to Europe (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** GUATEMALA. R. Cultural Coat?n, 4780 is a regular here in the mornings;
unfortunately I don`t usually fire up until after sunrise. Following John
Wilkins` hypothesis that XERTA might be on 4780 too, I paid more attention than
usual, Jan 18: around 1333 mariachi music, mixed with talk but hard to
ascertain language, suspect not Spanish. 1401 ID mentioning 60 metros, but
could not catch name of station. Musical bed with the ID was, incongruously for
either, ``London Bridge``.
Afterwards in talk segment, evidently preaching, in non-Spanish, except for an
occasional recognizable Spanish words such as ``cap?tulo``, ``vers?culo``, i.e.
chapter and verse in Bible quotations. Gradually fading, but still audible at
1410, almost gone by 1420 when I quit.
I doubt that XERTA in the DF would be broadcasting in any native language, but
TGLT certainly does. Meanwhile, nothing more than a carrier detectable on 4800,
if that was XERTA. There was no more than one signal on 4780, aside from the
constant CODAR sweeping by that and 4800. Then I see Scott Barbour`s report of
Jan 17 that TGLT signed on at 1129 with ``London Bridge``. That clinches it for
me (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 11715, KJES, Jan 17 at 1417, off-key kid-choir with endless
repetitions of hymn verse starting ``A correr`` and ending ``en la sangre de
Jes?s`` --- Yes, Spanish meaning ``Run. . . to the blood of Jesus``. Kept
faking us out, is it about to end? Now? Now? But paused for English ``let me
know if you can hear me`` ID at 1430, and shortly into usual call-and-response
in English. This blurs the border between their designated Spanish and English
hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 8GAL, 6074, heard once again Jan 17 at 1400-1401 with VVV/CQ
marker, but not audible Jan 18 at same time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. Rapid pulsing, believed to be Chinese over-the-horizon radar, Jan
16 at 1430 was found at approx. 9135-9165, and 9400-9425, the latter
interfering with R. Sweden in English on 9400, and Greece on 9420. I quickly
scanned 6-9 and 10-11.7 MHz but did not hear it anywhere else (Glenn Hauser, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. Just as I tuned in 15110, Jan 16 at 1447, hearing some Arabic
dramatic talk and drumming, it vanished. Per skeds, this would be Kabd, R.
Kuwait, supposed to run from 1315 until 1800, 500 kW at 100 degrees, Arabic
until 1600, then Urdu. Maybe it`s unusual for it to be on, rather than off,
since I don`t recall encountering it before (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST) ###

Saludos cordiales.
descartado esa posibilidad realizando comprobaciones a +/- 450 y 900 kHz. Ayer
17 de enero observ? en la misma frecuencia una emisi?n que no hice caso, ya que
presupuse que se trataba de una emisi?n fantasma, sin embargo al repetirse en
el d?a de hoy, me he centrado en ella.

Hola Jose!
I think it is a transmitter mixing product in Austria.
5955 VO Vietnam via AUT mixing with 6155.
It's rather common here to hear a mix of two Austrian
transmitters operating in the 49 mb.
Cheers, Jari

I'm hearing quite nice moon bounce best using USB tuned to 6791.8 USB. HAARP
itself is very loud at S9+10 or more, whereas the moon bounce is quite weak,
heard in that 3 second time frame after the 2 sec HAARP
signal. CW seemed to work (exactly on 6792.5, but the bounce wasn't so
obvious, nor was it very good on LSB for some reason. The bounce was well
heard at 05:13 UTC, but seems to come and go (for instance
nothing now at 05:14:45). Time to play with my various antennae.......Walt in
