While in Europe 20-29 June, I was able to do some listening from the
Netherlands and in Luxembourg. The report below includes SW, MW, LW, and
FM. You should be able to figure out which is which. Here is what was
heard and/or observed.
D.R. CONGO 6210 R. Kahuzi (pres.) 1804 M anncr in what sounded like FR,
then UTE started. Mx at 1807 when UTE ended. Alternating M and W anncrs,
instru. Rock mx bridge at 1808. (20 June)
UGANDA 4976 R. Uganda/UBC R., 1959 just caught end of EG addr anmnt by M,
Afro Hi-life mx, then closing anmnts and cont. Afro Hi-life to 2001.
Deadair, then canned EG pgm promo mixed w/Dance Hi-life mx and ment of the
Red Channel and mx artists given. ".Red Channel on UBC Radio". 2006 M in
EG w/pgm sounding like "Radio Waya". Had QRM from a stn of equal strength
on 4975 which must have been the V.O. Russia. UBC very nice after 2000 when
4975 went off. (20 June)
All Africas very nice including: 4780, 3345, 4828, and 4950. (20 June)
Surprised to find Indians coming in from 226-2230 on 5010, 4930, and 4920.

RUSSIA 9996 RWM time station 0509 continuous CW IDs till 0610, then
ticks. (22 June)
UK 1215 Virgin R. 0534 ID near end of 4 Non Blondes "What's Up", song
end, then live "Free Fuel Monday" ad, TC, back to mx. Good signal. (22

6090 DRM stn here up as high as 6110 and as low as 6080. Takes up a good
chunk of the band. (22 June)
NETHERLANDS 1395 "Big L", 0700-0701 great live IDs, ad, wx, several promos
and then "The Elvis Triple Spread". Into "Hunk o Burning Love". Nice
signal. (22 June)
UK 1458 Sunrise R., 0704-0706 "Sunrise R. News" pgm, ID during nx.
Sunrise TV promo ID at 0708. Decent signal. (22 June)
UK 909 BBC Radio 5 0721-0728 Mickey Campbell, Shiela Fogersey hosts,
traffic report, PSA, "5 Live" Promo ID, then 10K race report. Fairly good.

live ID by M, ads. Great signal. (22 June)
BELGIUM 621 RTBF Premiere "Le Premiere" ID promo by W w/song samples at

NETHERLANDS 1008 Groot Nieuws R. 0754 short ID between soft rel. songs.
Excellent strength. (22 June)
BELGIUM 927 VRT/Radio Een 0756 end of "Hollow Man" by REM, live M w/song
anmnt, promo and old IS played once!! Then Dance song. Good. (22 June)

GABON 4777 RTV Gabon Doing well at 1924 but undermodulated. Some QRM
from Djibouti. (23 June)
No sign of 5026 Uganda, but there was someone on 5025. Obviously can't be
Cuba. Must have been Parakou. (23 June)
RUSSIA 4975 V.O. Russia Good w/Rock mx at 1937. Some UTE and Uganda QRM
but mainly clear in AM sync LSB. (23 June)
ALBANIA 1394.7 TWR Albania?? Looking for "Big L" but found this w/M in
east European lang at 1943. Must be Albania at 500 kw. Always off freq!!!

LUXEMBOURG 97.0 and 93.3 FM RTL Radio Hrd and recorded from 2055-2148
but didn't keep it. Good of course since the transmitters were only about 4
miles away the Crow flies!! (23 June)
BRAZIL 9564.88 R. Tupi (pres.) 2212 M preaching in PT. Some slop QRM
from 9575 but mainly clear. Not very strong. (23 June)
FRANCE 837 France Info 0746 M in FR then W took over and journalist
report from a caf?. (24 June)
NETHERLANDS 675 R. Maria 0753 deadair, then M w/ID conveniently enough,
"amen"s, and rel. choral song. Good. (24 June)
GERMANY 1539 Evangeliumsrundfunk (ERF) 0755-0801 rel. mx, canned "ERF"
promo/ID, and nx by W, then nice ID at 0758. Went off the air for a minute,
came back on w/deadair, then ID at ToH by M and into nx by M. Fair. (24

FRANCE 1278 France Bleu 0802 M in press review pgm. Poor and fading.

LUXEMBOURG 254 RTL 0809-0820 round robin discussion by several people,
then royalty-like mx mixed w/tlk, "Flight of the Bumblebee" and more tlk.
0817 ad and quick RTL ID, then back to more tlk. Excellent. (24 June)
CHINA 10000 BPM time station 1859 CW and W voice IDs. Good with RWM
9996 QRM. (24 June)
TIBET 4820 Xizang PBS (pres.) Apparently the one here at 1857 w/CH vcls
and piano, then soft orchestral mx. Went off at 1901. (24 June)
UNID. 87.7 UNID. 0654-0657 In FR w/traffic report bracketed by ads, then
live M anncr ending w/song anmnt and into "Jeans On" by David Dundas. Didn't
get any ID. (25 June)
LUXEMBOURG 92.5 RTL 0657-0700 FR Pop song at t/in, promo w/ZZ Top,
"Lifestyle" and "Visa" ad block, mx bridge, nice RTL jingle, 3 time ticks,

GERMANY 105.5 Eins Life 0713-0737 Dance mx at t/in. Nice ID by Alicia
Keyes at 0730, several more IDs, then nx. Fair. (25 June)
PIRATE (EUROPE) 4908 UNID. Pirate Definitely a Pirate here w/pretty
decent signal at 0636 t/in. Easy nonstop German Schlagers. Decent but fade
after t/in. Came back up by 0645. Nice signal w/solid carrier and clear
modulation when not fading. Actually pretty good at 0648. M anncr at
0648:45 but it faded
just before, so couldn't copy. If the anmnt would have come 30 seconds
sooner, it would have been easy!! A little more mx and off at exactly
0649:35*. Anyone have any idea who this could have been??? I'm really
interested in knowing what Pirate station would be using the 60 meter
Tropical band!! Please drop me a line if you can provide any input.

BELGIUM 87.6 Classic 21 0711 end of "Jumpin Jack Flash" by the Stones, M
anncr in FR w/song anmnts and tlk, 0712 ID ".you're with Eric LaForge on the
morning show on Classic 21", then into Pop song. M anncr briefly then ad
block, and into "Killing Me Softly". W anncr joined in then. 0728 promo/ID
w/"Graceland" by Paul Simon. Fair. (26 June)
5050 WWRB was fair but not really strong. 5045 and 5035 presumed ZYs were
very weak. 5025 Rebelde was strong this morning. (26 June)
60 mb scan from 0450-0455: 4965 Zambia rel. tlk at 0450 w/fairly decent
signal. 4950 pre. Angola kind of weak. 4915 ZY fair. 4894.9 and 4865
possible ZYs but couldn't get any audio oddly enough. Decent carriers
though. 4828 Zimbabwe OK but noisy. 4799.9 Guatemala a little weak audio.
4790.07 OA, decent. 4775 sounds like TWR. 4755 probably the ZY. You'd
have to get up in the middle of the night to have any success hearing LAs.

promo, live M w/SMS number, and into the awful Kid Rock song "All Summer
Long" that samples Warren Zevon and Lynyrd Skynyrd songs. (27 June)
LUXEMBOURG 102.9 Den Neie R. 0609-0613 nx and sports by M, break for ad,
0611 live promo/ID sounded more like Meteor. ID then "DNR Wake Up". Good.

NIGERIA 9689.3 V.O.N. (pres.) 0804-0818 Nothing but long tlk by M in Afro
vern. w/many ments of Nigeria. No ID hrd. Not too bad at t/in but really
dropped down after 0815 and barely audible. Could still hear M tlk
w/journalist sound bite at 0822. Seemed gone at 0828 check but probably
just a deep fade. Found it later at 1005 w/strong signal and end of EG nx
summary by W followed by M w/ID, Afro percussion mx bridge, then into
"Business Weekly" by same W host. (12 July)
AUSTRALIA 4910 and 4835 Both ABC outlets heard // on these freqs at 0803.
4835 one of the best signals on the band. Of course 5025 blocked by Cuba.
at 0831 2325 was already switched on, followed by 2310 a minute later, then
found a weak signal on 2485 about 30 seconds after that. (12 July)

but missed due to mixing with WBOH's signal. After this, Rossii
