 WORLD OF RADIO 1421 SUMMARY:
*Coup in Mauritania August 6 put SW 4845 and 7245 off the air for at
least a week, but could be monitored on MW 783 [by Carlos Gon?alves,
Portugal], by satellite and internet, e.g. via
 http://www.publicradiofan.com
*XEXQ, 6045, San Lu?s Potos?, M?xico, again barely audible with
 antenna improvement
*R. Habana Cuba, Esperanto, Sunday at 2330 heard on 5965 only,
 contrary to its own schedule
*Esperanto SW broadcasters are mainly communist, 5 hours a day from
China, half an hour a week from Cuba, repeated several times
*On August 11, RHC made sudden frequency changes: 15120 and 15360 at
 11-15, ex 9550 and 11805; 6140 and 6180 exchange languages in
evenings, so 6140 now in English 01-07, and 6180 goes off before VOA
opens English at 0500, finally ending four-month-old collision
*15360 has het at 1400-1415 from off-frequency TWR Swaziland
*NBC Radio, St. Vincent & Grenadines, now has webcast; website
indicates only on FM, but logged in March on MW 700, ex-710, ex-705
*HCJB, Ecuador, 6050, heard as early as 1920 UT in Florida
*HCJB German service at 0630-0730 to Europe on 9740, off air since Aug
1, was back by Aug 11
*R. Bethel, Arequipa, Per?, active on 5949.6 at midday and also at
 sunrise
*R. Cultura, Araraquara, Brasil, reactivated on 3365
*R. Eldorado ESPN, Brasil, distorted on 5745, probably spur
*R. Nacional da Amaz?nia, ex-6180 has been varying around 6188.1, away
from Cuba, but now bothering Serbia on 6190 at 0000
*Brasil relay of China at 0300, nominal 9665, heard on 9668.1, exactly
same offset, so same transmitter with a mind of its own?
*R. Globo heard with distorted signal on 12085, spur of 11805?
*R. Renascen?a, Portugal`s Catholic network starts new service R. Sim
on all the MW frequencies and some of the FM
*REE, Spain, has many hours set aside for sports coverage Saturday and
Sunday evenings, but heard lately here with classical music Saturday
afternoons, world music Sundays. Football championships to bring
sports back from Aug 31; on 15110, 17595
*World of Radio 1421, is semi-finished. Check our website for much
more at your leisure if you can cope with lots of text:
 http://www.worldofradio.org
*Our address, woradio at yahoo.com
*Thanks for generous financial support from Dave Ewing in Illiinois
who sent a check in the mail to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid, OK
 73702, USA
*Radio Maarifa heard at 2000-2100 in Arabic and some French IDs on
9565, is a CVC service via J?lich, Germany, stealth Christianity, not
as it seems just ``an attitude for life``
*Writers to mailbag of Austrian Radio lament that English will be
cancelled by end of year, or earlier?
*R. Romania International`s two new transmitters at Galbeni have been
on sporadically; what`s going on. 11790 at 0000 was very good
*With Russia invading Georgia, maybe it wasn`t such a good idea for
VOA to cancel Russian broadcasts a few weeks ago; see
http://www.freemediaonline.org/silencing_of_voice_of_america_russian_23072008.htm
and http://www.bloggernews.net/117189
*But Georgian service still exists, so VOA doubles that from 30 to 60
minutes; RFE/RL adds another hour to 3:15 already. Complete schedules
in DX Listening Digests 8-091 and 8-092
*Also see Kim Elliott`s comments at http://www.kimandrewelliott.com
*List of military communication frequencies which may be active in
 Georgia, in DXLD 8-091
*R. Kuwait has been putting spur in the 20m hamband, 14125. Wolfgang
B?schel computed how it happens, leapfrog mix between 9855 and 11990
when both are on air, 1815-2100
*V. of Indonesia sticking to 11784.9v, relatively clear from 1400
after the English hour is over, in Malay, but still a heterodyne from
another off-frequency station, R. Gua?ba, Brasil just below it
*R. Singapore International cleans out its stock of stuff, now that
it`s closed down, sending extra blank QSLs and a kilogram of mementos
*VOA moves onto some vacated Singapore frequencies the next day, 6000
 and 7235
*After 8 days on 5985.78, Myanma Radio back on 5985.00 from August 12,
probably from Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw sites respectively
*News text service Journaline demonstrated in VIP car at Beijing
Olympix, via DRM transmitted from BBC Thailand
*Reporters Without Borders pulls off clandestine radio stunt in
Beijing on opening day, 104.4 FM criticizing government, audio at
 http://www.rsf-persan.org//chine/ANG.mp3
*China has not relented with Firedrake jamming as usual on multiple
 frequencies
*R. Australia is our SW source for Olympic coverage, relaying ABC
Local Radio until 1500; only on Pacific service, not Asian
*World Harvest Radio IDs heard twice in Italy on 9555 between 1330-
1500, but not scheduled there. Must be new relay via KHBN, Palau,
which is scheduled; blocked in North America by DentroCuban jamming
*WEWN`s downtime for maintenance ended Aug 9, again colliding with
 Cairo at 2115 on 11550
*WDSS, Grand Rapids MI, 1680, drops R. Disney, and from 18 Aug becomes
WPRI with new format Public Reality Radio
*CJLO, 1690, Montreal, has begun testing from Concordia University
*Propagation outlook from Boulder, August 5 ###

HCDX will publish anything from Arnie Coro (free speech in most countries), yet
the Cuban stations continue to jam stations that offer any type of criticism
against the government of Cuba.? And yet Arnie continues to post negative
things about Glenn Hauser, who has done more for the hobby of DX-listening and
SW-listening and the free exchange of ideas than Sr. Coro, because the Cuban
gov't. does not respect independent thought.? I would argue that there is no
place on HCDX for a person who works for a broadcaster that jams foreign
broadcasts and tries to stop anything that does not agree with the Cuban
government on a forum that promotes the free thoughts and input of everyone,
regardless of the type of government that the country that they live in has,
and only supports the party line of his government and won't offer anything
related to our hobby unless it agrees with that party line.? I do not listen to
the station of?any government that jams
broadcasts directed to that country, as the government of Cuba does so only
with more vigor than that of the P.R. China, which is why I would never ever
listen to Arnie's closed station.? Stop the jamming, Arnie, and maybe someone
would take you and your government seriously if you open up to ideas that are
different from your dedicated propaganda.? Until then, do not bother posting
anything on any independent forum, for I will not take the time to pay any
attention to them, and I believe the over-whelming majority of SWL's believe
absolutley the same.? Why should we listen to anything you or the output of
Radio Habana Cuba have to say, when your government does anything it can to
prevent any differing opinions to be broadcast to your country?? Jamming is the
only reason noone needs to take you seriously.? Do not criticize anyone else
until the jamming stops, Sr. Coro.? You need to take a long look in the mirror
before you criticize Mr Hauser.?
You only say what your?government allows you to say, yet Mr. Hauser will say
whatever he?wants about any country, including the one he lives in, which could
never happen under your close-minded friends,?Sr. Coro.? Stop the jamming, Sr.
Coro, or?do not bother contributing to any forum outside of your closed
country.?
