Nacional, Guinea Ecuatorial transmitiendo desde Malabo.frecuencia 6250 kiocyclos ?? en las frecuencias ?? megahertz.". Hi-life vcl mx, then "Whenever Wherever" by Shakira, and another Hi-life song. Nonstop mx continued until the MD ran out around 2242. Good signal and slowly getting stronger. Clear. A few static crashes. (17 April 2009)

Canned ad by W and M in SP at 1016, then another in SP by W w/ment of "amigos oyentes" and manana. 1018 lively LA Pops. 1019 live W host w/TC and long tlk in Quechua w/ment of madrugada. 1022 t/out. PERU 5039.2 R. Libertad de Junin Carrier on at 1022, then mx very weakly at 1024. But audio lvl increased at 1025:50. Nice Huayno w/M narration in the song. 1028 studio M anncr but lvl too low. (18 April)

PIRATE (NA) 6924.96U V.O. Chaos ID at 2020 t/in, then into "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent. 2024 ID, tlk abt seeing Ted Nugent in concert, another ID and e-mail voiceofch...@gmail.com. Into "Who Can It Be Now" by Men at Work. Strong and clear. (19 April)

CANADA 6160 CBC, R. One Abrupt signal lvl increase at 0938. Seemed more intentional than simple fade up. CBC nx then lcl wx. Getting ZY QRM at 1003, but wasn't there before 1000, so maybe Rio Mar?? (24 April)

PERU 5024.93 R. Quillabamba?? Rebelde was off this morning and I was able to hear camposina mx w/vcls by W at 1007. M anncr briefly at 101 but much too weak. 1011 Huayno mx w/M yelling, then tlk by M again at 1020 check. Impossible. Fair strength but extremely low modulation. Of course Rebelde was back on next morning. (24 April)

BOLIVIA 6155.27 R. Fides Ad block at 1014 t/in. First by W in Quechua, then ad by M in SP over mx and giving phone #, 1015 W w/simple canned ID "Transmite Fides" w/jingle. Back to live W anncr in Quechua w/TC and nx w/ments of "politica", "amigos oyentes", "trabajo en pias", and remote reports. Het from 6155 gradually taking over, but still the best hrd yet. No sign on 9625. (24 April)

PIRATE (NA) 6924.8 MAC "The Ultraman Show". "The Man With a Cigar" by Hermans Hermits at 0022 t/in, then boy w/song anmnt, gave his name as "Ultraman". Parody of "I Shot the Monkey". 0027 "Secret Agent Man". Good clear signal as hrd in the past. (26 April)

NEW ZEALAND 6170 R. New Zealand 0927 interview feature, 0932 "Sounds Historical" pgm w/host Jim Sullivan. 0959 mx bridge. 6 time ticks and ID "R. New Zealand news at 10 o'clock", then said nx. 1010 "9 to Noon" pgm promo, wx, TC, then "R. New Zealand National" ID, then pgm "Media Watch". Good clear signal. (26 April)

SAO TOME 4960 VOA 0011 on at this odd unsked time w/President Obama press conference. 0058 wrap-up by VOA anncr mentioning "special simulcast coverage here on VOA radio TV and Internet", and upcoming special. 0100 TC and nx "Its 1 hour Universal Time, and here is the news from the Voice of America". Nx to 0105, then "World News Now" pgm. 0115 pgm and stn ID, "Yankee Doodle" to 0116:39*. Signal stayed on w/OC until it went off at 0139:47. Good and //much weak 4930 Botswana. (27 April)

SOLOMON ISLANDS 9541.53 SIBC/R. Happy Isles 0756 usual W anncr w/ment of Solomon Islands at t/in. Complete days pgm rundown for Saturday. 0758 Rom. Pop song. 0759 ad by M for hardware and plumbing shop, nice ID, TC, date, and MW and shortwave freqs at 0759, carnival mx signature, then same W w/nx. Was getting heavy DRM 9545 QRM after 0800, and finally discovered the signal was most audible in 12 khz Aux. bandwidth at 0815. 0815 nice ID/promo, ment of "SIBC, the Voice of the Nation". Pgm promo, then live W returned w/pgm on PM Sikuas cabinet members, and Desond Tutus visit to the Solomon Islands. Pgm of (many) lcl messages to 0858, then "Bible Reading For Today", then back to more messages. (1 May)

JAPAN 9695 R. Japan *1158 IS to ToH, immediately into EG nx starting w/ID. Poor signal w/lcl QRM on the low side. //9625 is blocked by CBC and WYFR. The other direct EG bdcst at 0900 on 9625 seems the best choice here. (1 May)
