THE WORLD FOCUSES ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE ENVIRONMENT
World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, is one of the
principal means by which the United Nations raises global awareness of
environmental issues, such as climate change, to encourage political attention
and action. As the world seeks to secure a new international agreement to
combat climate change - and with the crucial 'COP15' climate change summit due
to take place in December - the BBC World Service Trust is broadening its work
on climate change and disaster preparedness.
