Para usuarios de Firefox hay un plug-in de inter?s sobre actividad solar,
For Firefox users there is a plug for this browser regarding the solar weather:
Propfire is a web browser extension that allows users to view HF propagation
conditions on their web browser status bar. Ham Radio operators and other
shortwave radio enthusiasts will be able to monitor propagation conditions
using this Firefox extension.
You should notice the solar propagation information circled in the image
above. This data is retrieved from the NOAA website and is periodically
updated in your browser as you surf the web. (assuming you are using Firefox).

** CANADA. 11850, YL in non-Mandarin Chinese dialect, June 25 at 1213, VG
signal but with squeal ? alternating 2 or 3 pitches, which almost seemed like
exotic instrument musical accompaniment; it could be heard more clearly by
tuning to the LSB, as the USB was bothered by BBC/GUF from 11860. It`s CRI in
Cantonese as scheduled via Sackville during this hour. Don`t recall hearing
Sackville with the squeal problem much before (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** CHINA [and non]. Firedrake check June 25: at 1222, nothing audible on 8400
or 9000 but at 1331, both very poorly audible. At 1242, very poor on 13500 only
but gone at 1338 recheck.
However, the CNR1 jammers were doing much better. At 1238 kid singing off-key
(on key in Chinese terms?) on 11840, poor but in the clear, unlike on // 11825,
11805 and 11785 where it just happened to collide with Western broadcasts in
Chinese! Also on 12040, 13830. 11825 mix had a ``Voice of America`` singing ID
in English at 1232.
So could 11840 be a legitimate CNR1 frequency? Of course not! Per Aoki, It`s
there to jam All India Radio`s Chinese service, altho inaudible here (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** FRANCE [non]. 13640, RFI via GUIANA FRENCH, VG June 25 at 1134 with YL
reciting M?t?o Marine info; she is a real human, not a computer or robot!
Wonder if marine weather is exempt from strike. Next check 1142, already back
to Musique. Presumably continued to 1230 instead of Spanish, and off the air
after 1230 unlike some other occasions (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** INDONESIA. Someone reported VOI on 9524 or so around 1800; thus I checked
whether the frequency had also jumped when we can hear it between 1200 and
1400: no, still just a shade below 9525 at 1330 June 25 when gamelan could be
discerned, but pretty weak now during the English hour, unlike at 1200 when it
was incoming well (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MALAYSIA. VOM, 11884.7, June 25 at 1148 fair signal with rolling fades in
ballad, noticeably distorted audio, 1152 announcement in Chinese; 1208 in talk,
presumably news, 1210 back to a song. 1228 a bit of Chinese operatic music,
1229 brief announcement and 1230 open carrier for a few minutes.
No IDs discernible, but who else is on 11884.7? PWBR `2009` shows 11884v, but
Ron Howard frequently logs it close to 11884.7, which should round to 11885,
not 11884.
This is the VOM Chinese service at 1130-1230, and not jammed! Is it for
overseas Chinese around SE Asia? No, target is Beijing area, with 50 or 100 kW
at 25 degrees from Kajang site, and thus also favoring us.
Perhaps the ChiCom consider VOM too insignificant to bother with, and/or from a
country sufficiently autocratic to be rated as friendly. No het audible either
from anything on 11885.0 tho Aoki shows PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi is also on in
Uighur, running 50 kW at 230 degrees. Nice to hear VOM here, as I never have
any luck with VOM on 15295, or any of the 7 MHz Malaysian channels (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. For those DXing Nightlight loops in the twilight of the analog
era, I note that KJRH, channel 2, Tulsa, visibly inserts its slogan ID
periodically, ``2 Works for You``, e.g. at 1404 UT June 25. O, I see this
station is scheduled to turn off as of June 26! For the first time in 55 years,
Tulsans will be able to TVDX on prime channel 2. Before 1700 UT unID Es DX was
starting to come in here on 2, and KJRH is easy to override at this distance.
During the transition, I got KJRH-DT on channel 56 a number of times, but
that`s now off-limits, and their permanent DT is channel 8, which I guess is
already going, with KTUL moved to DT channel 10. KJRH ERP on 56 was 800 kW,
while on 8 it`s only 15.9! What are they thinking? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** SPAIN [non]. Quite a while since my last check of REE`s token Co-official
language newscasts, M-F 1240-1255. So June 25 at 1245 tuned in COSTA RICA relay
on 15170, very strong signal such that even its undermodulation was sufficient,
as Catalan was ending and Galician was starting with its catchy sea-chanty
theme. 1250 into Basque, but as always just the quick open, and close at 1255
are really in Basque, while the body of the segment is in Castilian.
This is really wacky, as the whole point of doing news in co-official languages
is to broadcast in those languages, however briefly, isn`t it? It makes one
suspect that no one at REE Madrid understands Basque, so the Basques have been
instructed to do their news in Castilian, to be sure nothing untoward is
conveyed on behalf of terrorists, separatists. OTOH, one can also assume every
Basque who might be listening also understands Castilian, certainly not
vice-versa (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WWCR 15825 inbooming already as early as 1131 tune-in June 25, and
under Alex Scourby`s ponderous Bible readings, the self-inflicted squeal was
quite audible. Best signal by far on 19m, tho VOA Greenville B also in well on
15390 Creole, 15590 & 13715 Spanish. Means sporadic E had already kicked in,
but this morning did not reach VHF channel 2. 13845 WWCR not yet on the air,
but it too inboomed after 1200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. VOA Spanish, 13715, Enfoque Andino segment, June 25 at 1137 with
report from someone at VOASAT affiliate R. La Plata, Sucre, Bolivia. I think
they were just mentioning its frequency 9715 as I intuned, but I believe that
is inactive, varying to 9717 per WRTH; 1139 another one, from Bogot? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A [and non]. WEWN, 11530 in English sermon, VG June 25 at 1219 plus the
usual distorted parasitix around 11520 and 11540. Something was getting creamed
on 11520, per Aoki YFR in Indonesian via Taiwan, Catholix vs Protestants trying
to convert Moslems! And on the other hand, something on 11535 was getting it
from both sides. I should have focused on IDing that as nothing is listed,
altho VOK is on there at other times (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ###

Warm greetings to all of you !
The solar activity is on a SLIGHT, albeit fairly significative rise ! This
means that it is not impossible that toward the "official" beginning of the
2009-2010 LW and MW DX season we might get some auroral enhanced Latins
instead of those back-to-back TAs, as some of them seem to be heard
all-year-round (especially the LW ones).
While I was chatting to some highly charismatic YV DXers using SKYPE the
past week-end, one of them tried unsuccesfully to log M?di Un on 171 kHz and
was "rewarded" with a bunch of highly bothersome noises... I suggested they
loog at http://www.amradioantennas.com/ and I hope the next time I have some
time available to spent on SKYPE chatting with him, he will tell me what he
thinks of this promising website, a promise of feeding-frenzy TA LW DXing
and much more...
Last Tuesday night, condx were unusual with Medi Un getting at a good, not
at a fair level at tx-site dawn "greyline" enhancement, BBC Radio 4 making a
showing on 198 kHz (for the first time this summer) along with very faint
audio on 252 kHz through a computer-related growl, this growl being more
bothersome than the adjacent excellent strength local UL beacon on 248
kHz... Part of the reason I heard so much on LW was that I found a quiet
spot for the Sangean ACS-818CST / PK's Shielded Magnetic longwave loop combo
in my parents bedroom... Well...
Paul Karlstrand, the man behind PK, is receiving this message as well,
because I would like to ask my mom' if she could think about a fixed
frequency loop for 153 kHz for my birthday... The Shielded Magnetic LW loop
is awesome, except if I tune to the lowest frequency this tuned loop can be
tuned, I only get enhancement on France-162 and I don't start to see any
amplification on 153 kHz, I can't tune below 162 kHz, to take away the gain
needed for a clean reception of Allouis-162 and to get a noteworthy
reception on Tipaza-153 kHz... This is also the best frequency for Romanian,
German and Norwegian domestic LW radio ! Well...
Into the logs now:
Trans-Atlantic DX
162 FRANCE France Inter, Allouis JUN 24 0257 - heard with a nice
blues-rock song before the top-of-the-hour. Very good signal, but poor
overall due to some annoying computer popping growl that was only slightly
reduced by tuning the Sangean ACS 818-CST portable in AM Narrow mode on 160
kHz. (Chiochiu-QC)
171 MOROCCO M?di 1, Nador JUN 24 0350 - good on tx-site dawn enhancement
with some powerful rhythmic Arabic ra? as well as slow religious plaintive
vocals leading to the 0400 UTC newscast. SINPO 45443. Toward the end of the
Arabic music broadcast, it dropped to SINPO 35332 ! +JUN 25 0150 - heard
with rhythmic Arabic music. Fair but with lots of static scratches as the
extremely hot wet weather Montreal is going through right now is making the
atmosphere prone to Thunderstorm activity. Propagation was at most average
as around 0155 UTC was starting to fade down to a very poor level because
the receiver sunset dawn enhacement effect was over ! SINPO 35232.
(Chiochiu-QC)
183 GERMANY Europe 1, Felsberg JUN 24 0245 - dramatic reading of the
"L'?cume des jours" classical modern French book by Boris Vian interspead
with some nice Boris Vian French language jazz songs. Huge, better than in
my own room ! This station which was known for carrying broadcasts dealing
with the woman's sexual health is also carrying some days dramatic reading
on early morning hours. They do this probably to fight for France Inter's
status which is playing less music and more dramatic reading programs during
the early morning hours. By the way this station is located on the
France/Germany's border and is considered to be a French broadcaster. It is
among the first post-World War II FRENCH PRIVATE broadcasters, when private
radio was prohibited in France and a few owners such as the ones behind
Europe 1 had the bright idea of opening their stations with their
transmitter accross the border, but with their studios in Paris ! In French,
this is known as "radio p?riph?rique"... The first legal landbased French
PRIVATE radio stations appeared in 1981 followed PS Fran?ois Mitterand
election ! (Chiochiu-QC)
198 ENGLAND BBC Radio 4, Droitwich JUN 24 0259 - with top-of-the-hour BBC
World Service ID followed by "The World Now"... Very poor, but partially
readable ! First time in June ! Semi-regular during the fall and winter
months but not as strong as 189 Rikis?tvarpid or 171 M?di Un. (Chiochiu-QC)
216 FRANCE RMC Info, Roumoules JUN 24 0301 - headlines in French, among
the main items was that Fr?d?ric Mitterand was chosen to become the minister
of the culture ! Poor, but partially readable ! Unreadable earlier but there
and gone a few minutes later, as the dawn enhancement came to an end !
(Chiochiu-QC)
252 unID JUN 24 0240 - very threshold audio getting through slight
splatter from the local UL beacon on 248 kHz and through a huge computer
popping growl. (Chiochiu-QC)
9575 MOROCCO M?di 1, Nador JUN 24 2310 - with plaintive, yet abrupt Arabic
vocals. SINPO 33222 fair-poor overall, but best signal in a while ! Usually
when the solar activity is ridiculously low, SW-9575 comes in VERY poor on
the Grundig G5 / random wire terminated by a broken Yagi or Sangean ACS
818-CST / random wire terminated by a broken Yagi combo and LW-171 comes in
fair-good on the Grundig G5 / PK's Shielded Magnetic LW loop combo. Wiped
out just before 2359 UTC by major international broadcasters signing in on
nearby frequencies ! (Chiochiu-QC)
Pan-American DX
760 COLOMBIA HJAJ, RCN Cadena Bas?ca, Barranquilla JUN 24 around 0140 -
briefly fair in WJR null with an ad for a natural aboriginal water product
followed by at least two network RCN IDs. (Chiochiu-QC)
Additionnal comments:
A severe T-storm watch is underway for the Montreal area, so I'll try to
keep it short this time... The huge heat along with the wet weather that
Montreal is undergoing right now has succeded in making me very tired the
past few days which resulted in a few personnal messages I bypassed, such as
a personnal e-mail directly from the IDXD editor... I'll reply to all of you
as soon as possible. I'm also in the process of choosing a present for my
22nd birthday and it would most likely be a DX related one. My mom' has some
money available to help me improove my DX shack...
As I'm writing this, I just received a WWV minor storm alert... It is
unlikely I will be able to DX southern signals on mediumwave tonight, as
they predict strong thunderstorms for both this afternoon, tonight and early
tomorrow morning... However, I won't be surprised to receive a new
Venezuelan on Friday night... That being said, I'm ready to answer some
e-mails before the T-storm kicks off !
As soon as time permits, I will try to make a r?sum? for the past season
which was one of the seasons I was the most active on both MW and, for the
first time, LW with occasional forrays into shortwave as well...
This report is brought to you by Bogdan Alexandru Chiochiu, DXing from
Pierrefonds (Montreal's West Island), QC using the Sanyo MCD-S830 / PK AM
loop combo for mediumwave, the Sangean ACS 818-CST / PK's Shielded Magnetic
LW loop for longwave and the Grundig G5 / random wire terminated by a broken
Yagi antenna for shortwave (for hearing the 9575 kHz catche) !
May the good DX be with you !
Bogdan Chiochiu
Btw.: I send those logs to LatinMWDX because of the unusual "off-season"
reception of HJAJ-760 and because I expressed some of my feelings regarding
Latin American MW reception... LatinMWDX is a group at which I am one of the
two main moderators ! We host MP3 DX airchecks containing local ads, station
IDs and song intros from as many Caribbean, Central and South American MW
stations as possible... If you would like to share some MP3 or .WAV station
IDs etc of mediumwave Latins with us, please join LatinMWDX on Yahoo!

Bolivia, 6155.22, Radio Fides, 2315-2359 Not a bad signal for this
early. Heard a single male in Spanish comments for awhile until he's
joined by a female and later another male. Signal stayed at a poor
to fair level during the period. At 2330, I think I heard a male give
a live ID as "...Radio Fides ..." I think?. Signal begins to
improve as it gets later but just a little. Nothing different as
the time goes by. Lot's of noise. It's very convincing that
this is a scoccer game as the talk gets excitable from
the male. Signal dropped off the air at 2358.

Yes, I`d like to hear the mp3. DXLD 9-043 had this:
RUSIA, 7225, Voz de Rusia, 0140-0145, escuchada el 25 de mayo en ruso,
ID ?Gosdka Rossii Radio?, ?program Cultura?, emisi?n musical, locutor
con noticias, en paralelo por 7260 y 7285, SINPO 35433
*Nuevo servicio?, frecuencia no listada ni en EiBi, Ni en Aoki, ni en
WRTH (Jos? Miguel Romero, Burjasot (Valencia), Espa?a, dxldyg via DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
7225 is our St. Petersburg, ex-7390 starting from

But I wish he had specified its transmission time span; Eibi indicates

India to get its 50th community radio station in Hyderabad
Four years and two months after the government announced its policy relating to
community radio, the 50th community radio got its clearance at Abid Ali Khan
Educational Trust, Hyderabad. The trust has been operating for about 15 years
in Hyderabad and serving the community, especially the weaker and marginalised
sections by providing free education and vocational training in the field of
journalism, computers, tailoring, embroidery and many other fields of
livelihood generations.
To achieve these objectives and to reach out to these communities, particularly
those who are poor, literally challenged and socially and culturally
underprivileged, the CRS proposed by the Abid Ali Khan Educational Trust aims
to address issues that concern the community through participatory programmes,
and improve the quality of life in general.
