** CHINA . Firedrake check Sept 9 at 1359 before pause: fair on 9000, poor on
8400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA [non]. 9650, at 1320 Sept 9, worse than usual mix of CRI via Sackville
in English and RN via Tinang in Dutch, because they are roughly 25-30 Hz apart,
making rippling SAH, and the Dutch audio is stronger than usual. If I had to
guess, I would say Sackville is more likely to be off-frequency. 1327 made
usual switch to RN in English for two sesquiminutes; could make out ``verbally
attacking`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA . RHC, Sept 8 at 0607: this time instead of one frequency for English
there are three: 6010, 6060 and 6140. You never know (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** INDONESIA . VOI, 9524.9, Tue Sept 8 at 1325, can barely tell that another
weekly excursion to Banjarmasin is underway, as too undermodulated vs noise and
fading, YL mentioning Banj, 1329 conversation with the guy there (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** RUSSIA . VOR, 15605, Sept 8 at 1502 YL with news in English manages to
squeeze between WEWN on 15610 and WEWN spur on 15600; more problem was the
splash from fundamental 15610 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOUTH AFRICA. 15660, Sept 8 at 1509 in Swahili mentioning a number of
African countries: Channel Africa as scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. WEWN, Sept 8 at 1458 on 11520 with Salve Regina IS; 1500 Spanish ID
giving 11520 and 11550, and now 11550 is also on the air; meanwhile 15610 in
English has the old spurs detectable on 15600 and 15620; see RUSSIA (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ###

Sirius FM-5 now fully operational
Sirius FM-5, the latest addition to Sirius XM Radio, America's satellite radio
company, is now fully operational. The satellite broadcasts Sirius XM
programming and data services to Sirius stations in North America.
It's designed to provide focused power in areas of peak population such as
metropolitan areas on the east and west coast as well as significantly
improving reception when driving under heavy foliage.
"For our Sirius subscribers, FM-5 brings significantly improved performance to
their cars as well as their homes and offices. We expect FM-5 to provide
exceptional service for many years to come, while improving the overall
performance, reliability and longevity of our satellite fleet," says Sirius XM
Radio CEO Terry Smith.

Peru, 6019.25, Radio Victoria, 0835-0859, At tune in noted a male in Spanish
Language comments. At this early hour, there's no QRM on 6019 to 6020 which
blocks out Victoria
so a notching is not necessary. Later a female joins the
talking. Signal was poor. (Chuck Bolland, September 10, 2009)
Bolivia, 3310, Radio Mosoj Chaski, 1020-1030, Noted music until 1023 when a
female comments in Spanish language. Signal was poor to fair. (Chuck Bolland,
September 9, 2009)
Bolivia, 4716.70, Radio Yura, 1027-1035, Noted a program of music here until
1030, when canned promos heard. Back to music at 1031. Lots of QRN to cover
the signal which is already threshold. (Chuck Bolland, September 9, 2009)
Unid, 4919, 1000-1040 Noted a Spanish Language Station here in mainly music.
Generally the signal was poor until about 1030 when if peaked to a fair.
Unfortunately, it fade out by 1040. Didn't hear any good details. (Chuck
