Suriname, 4989.99, Radio Apintie, 0903-0930, Noted a male in comments (Dutch?) for a few moments, then music is presented. This is one of those signals where nothing seems as it is, when the noise is so loud, the signal is almost imagined. Were it not for the display of a signal, I would have passed by this station on an ordinary receiver. I can't say this is threshold, because that would be an exaggeration. However, periodically the audio of the signal fades in for a moment or two which allows for some listening. (Chuck Bolland, April 16, 2010) Solomon Islands, 5019.94, SIBC, 0920-0930, Noted a male in Pidgin language comments. This is another of those weak signals where the noise is covering most of the audio. I'd say this catch is poor then. (Chuck Bolland, April 16, 2010) Indonesia, 4749.93, RRI Makassar, 0935-0945, At tune in, noted a female in Indonesian language comments until 0938. At that time, music is presented. Signal was threshold, but this station usually fades in closer to the sunrise at my location. (Chuck Bolland, April 16, 2010) Peru, 6019.29, Radio Victoria, 0955-1000, Just caught the tailend of the "weeping preacher" as I like to refer to him. He was followed with bridge music and then live comments from an announcer. Signal was poor. (Chuck Bolland, April 16, 2010) Bolivia, 6134.77, Radio Santa Cruz, 1005-1015, Noted a male and female in some sort of instructional program. It might be a language lesson? Signal was fair this morning. (Chuck Bolland, April 16, 2010) Japan, 6140, Radio Japan, 1014-1030, Noted a female in Indoneisan language comments for a minute, the JP pop music presented. Signal was good. (Chuck Bolland, April 16, 2010) Indonesia, 9680. RRI Jakarta, 1038-1050, With a female in Indonesian comments, she presented local type melodies. Signal was good at this time. (Chuck Bolland, April 16, 2010) Indonesia, 9525.87, Voice of Indonesia, 1043-1050, Signal is very threshold today. There's a display, but no audio can be heard. Can it be that they aren't broadcasting anything during this halfhour? Don't know, the schedule from AOKI says they should be in English between 1000 and 1100 UTC. Maybe the English announcer didn't show up? Tried hearing something using the HF1000 and had the same results of nothing. (Chuck Bolland, April 16, 2010) Philippines, 9615, Radio Veritas Asia, 1053-1105, At tune in, noted a male in Chinese language comments. At 1058, bells are rung while ID or promos in Chinese. Was expecting an ID on the hour in English, but didn't happen. I'm thinking it'll be at 1157 instead of 1100. The program continues after 1100 with a male and female in more Chinese language comments and features. Signal was good.
