The New York Times today reports the death of Carlos Franqui, an exiled Cuban writer and opponent of Fidel Castro.

Carlos Franqui was the director of Radio Rebelde in its earliest days as a clandestine radio station in mountains of the Sierra Madre in eastern Cuba.
