AUSTRALIA Got a nice, quick, QSL letter back from Gary Baxter at the ABC for 4835
VL8A today. Said 4835 is on trial from 0830-2130 UTC. The xmtr QTH is 13 km south
of Alice Springs. (3 July)
SUN The geomagnetic field has been disturbed the last few days. Solar Flux is up
to 163 today with R2 radio blackouts. There have been 9 solar flares the last 3
days including 5 just today!! (4 July)
BOLIVIA 6134.82 R. Santa Cruz Nice clear canned ID by W at 0037 t/in, then tlk
by M w/ID at 0037:40, and into pleasant Tropical LA mx. Another ID by the live
studio M anncr at 0042:10 at end of song. Incredible strength!! Some pulsing UTE
QRM unfortunately. Pio Doce was pounding in as well. (5 July)
UNID. 5015.19 Just a carrier here at 0046. A little stronger by 0109 but still
no audio. (5 July)
COLOMBIA 14950.78 Must be that new Colombian Larry mentioned. 0049 carrier, but
did have audio about 15 minutes earlier. (5 July)
UNID. 6155 Two signals here at 0054; one on 6155 even, and the other on
6154.92. Sounded like soft guitar mx on 6154.92. (5 July)
MALI 5995 R. Dif. Du Mali Guitar IS 0658, M anncr in what sounded like FR,
brief mx bridge, then tlk by M. Strong signal but very low modulation, slop QRM
from 5980, and very noisy conditions as well. (5 July)
CLANDESTINE??? 15725 V.O. South Sudan Revolutionary R.??? Extremely weak
signal from 0655. Could just make out tlk by M at times. Long impassioned tlk by M
0725-0742 when a little stronger, what sounded like some mx at 0742, then off at
0743. Just too weak to determine lang. Unusual s/off time may indicate it was this.
Nothing else sked on this freq at this time though. (5 July)
COLOMBIA 14950.75 Salem Estereo 0756 soft LA rom. mx, then nice clear canned
ID anmnt by 2 men at 0759:45, and into Ranchera song. Another canned anmnt at
0805:10 but no ID this time. 0809:30 again but fading and more difficult copy.
Format (at least overnight) seems to be canned promo anmnts after every 2 songs. (5
July)
UNID. 15735 UNID. Someone here fading in and out at 0815. Tlk by W but
couldn't get the lang. Gone by 0823 recheck. R. Japan maybe?? Nothing listed. (5

COLOMBIA 6010.1 La Voz de tu Conciencia 0835-0838 lively LA song, 0838 canned
ID w/ment of AM by M, then into LA rom. Rock-style song. Fairly good but quick QSB
and some QRN. (5 July)
GUYANA (NOT) 3290 No sign of V.O. Guyana here at 0823. (5 July)
RUSSIA?? 15195 R. Tatarstan (tent.) 0846-0854 long tlk feature by W w/sev.
sound bites. 0854-0856 plain vcl by M. 0856 brief tlk by M and W, then AR-like vcl
song. M and W returned briefly at 0859 w/what sounded like ment of studio and
Tatarstan, deadair, then off at 0900 exactly. (5 July)
SUN There have been 14 flares in the last 48 hours!! At 2105, Solar Flux = 165, A
Index = 13, K Index = 3. Background X-ray flux is up to C2. R2 radio blackouts
continue. (5 July)
