** CHINA [and non]. 11695, Jan 22 at 1503, CNR1 jamming, which Aoki shows is
against VOA Uzbek via Sri Lanka this semihour only. // stronger 11640 which is
against RFA Tibetan via Kuwait this hour only. CNR1 // many others of course,
even down to 6020 to block RFA Chinese via Tinian (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1157-1183 kHz, Jan 22 at 1423 and 1620 UT chex, IBOC is back on
from 1170 KFAQ Tulsa. I feared the clearup would not last (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1270, Jan 21 at 1955 UT I am checking out the Claremore/Tulsa
station which AM Switch in NRC DX News Jan 13 reported changed call Jan 3 from
KRVT to KTUZ; also IRCA DX Monitor Jan 18 which added ``was Regional Mexican,
now new unknown format``. Us Okies know that KTUZ is already the call of a
Spanish FM station in OKC, 106.7, plus TV on RF 29 which carries both
archrivals Telemundo and Univisión. Could there be some connexion? Yes!

Even on the caradio, 1270 is quite weak here, so after finding that it is
indeed // 106.7 which has a semi-local signal, I continue listening there for
ToH ID. (Haven`t yet checked on two radios for a delay.) After some dead air,
at 2000 UT, SHVA exclaims joint ID for both FM on 106.7 and AM Claremore-Tulsa
on 1270, stations of Tyler Media. Tyler is pronounced as in English, Media as
in Spanish.

So now yet another Tulsa AM station becomes a mere satellite of an OKC station
(after 1570 relaying 890, also Tylers). As for format, IRCA says ``1270 KTUZ
Claremore, OK was Regional Mexican, now new unknown format``. It still sounds
``regional Mexican`` to me, if that means norteña music where most of the
immigrants around here come from, besides Guatemala.

Inspecting http://www.ktuz.com/ one is hard-pressed to find La Zeta as on any
radio frequency but 106.7. But Jesus is one of their DJs (Glenn Hauser, Enid,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Jan 21 at 2026 UT check, KCSC-FM Edmond is back on the air
as promised earlier today, with classical music; seems at usual level which
means not enough to avoid picket-fencing as I drive around Enid, nor enough to
break into stereo sound, altho the ST icon displays on the radio dial, showing
that it exists (unlike on much stronger 91.7 KOSU, downgraded to mono). Good to
have them back --- but wait, gone again later that evening, and still gone Jan
22 at 0630, 1505 and 1620 UT chex. Still no mention on the website about the
outage (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9370, Jan 22 at 1441, open carrier/dead air from BS
via WWRB; or maybe it`s just barely modulated as I am hearing something there,
or CCI or crosstalk. Back on at 1456 check. ``Fortunately`` there is plenty of
BS redundancy tnx to WRMI, WTWW and WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9605, Jan 21 at 2050, pop music, poor-fair, what`s this? 2051 French
announcement mentioning the Spanish apellido Hernández, jogging my memory that
REE is scheduled this hour in French M-F. And // much weaker 9570. Nothing on
9665, where I heard this service by mistake recently. 9605 is 110 degrees from
Noblejas per Aoki, while 9570 is 168, both at the odd rated power of 350 kW.

BTW, Noblejas is the *only* site in the entire Aoki list with such a power
level (and not applying to all their transmitters, either.) What about HFCC?
The *only* listing anywhere with 350 kW power is China via Spain 9690 at
0200-0400, while the three other 9 MHz channels above are listed as only 250.
WRTH says Noblejas now counts upon 6 x 250 kW transmitters. Period. 9690
certainly puts out bigsigs to N America, but anyone`s guess whether they are
somehow punched up to 350 kW (or less than 2 x 250?).

This historical site http://www.swcountry.be/e.html
shows for Noblejas there were six Thomson TRE2330s of 350 kW each installed in
1971, two of which are apparently no longer in service.
2 350 THO TRE2330 1971¤ †
4 350 THO TRE2330 1971¤
There is no key to meaning of the symbols. Besides 8 newer 250-kW units, if any
of the 350s are really still in use, perhaps they are powered down to only 250
accounting for such registrations (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SUDAN [and non]. 15535, Jan 22 at 1458, good open carrier, with 1 kHz tone
jammer barely audible; 1459 sign-on from R. Tamazuj via VATICAN, considerable
flutter but way over the jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7730, Tue Jan 21 at 2100, WRMI goes from BS to `Wavescan` commencing
the extra hour of RMI programming. Seems the only way to find out the schedule
at 21-22 is by monitoring, but it`s flexible and may not repeat following
weeks. Usual poor signal here. At 2155 in Spanish about Venezuela, probably the
quarter-hour `Acontecer Venezolano` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490-, Jan 21 at 2049, since it`s Tuesday, WBCQ is on an hour earlier
than most days, with novelty music: Pirate Joe`s Extravaganzo from WHVW in New
York. Signal is really too poor to enjoy. By occupying the 20-21 UT slot, P.J.
gets the least coverage of any show on 7490, full daytime even in winter, and
will only worsen as the year progresses, jumping a full hour even earlier once
DST kicks in. I suppose this may still be a solid signal closer (but not too
close) to Monticello ME (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1700, Jan 22 at 1431-1435+ UT, open carrier/dead air atop weak Fox
Sports station, making about 7 Hz SAH. OCDA station must be KKLF Richardson TX,
the comedy station muted, and KVNS Brownsville the Fox Sports (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
