Bolivia, 6134.848, Radio Santa Cruz, 1030-1045, At tune in noted a female
in news

presentation until 1034. At that time a quick ID by a male followed by
music with

brief Sp comments between tunes. "... Radio Santa Cruz ...:" Signal was
fair with QRM this AM. (Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

Peru, 4809.995, Radio Logos, 1007-1030, At tune in, noted steady Spanish
music.

Best heard using USB mode with the usual QRM on the upper side of the
signal.

Music continues during the period while the signal remains at a fair level
with

interference. (Charles Bolland, March 11, 2014)

Peru, 4774.951, Radio Tarma, 1014-1030, Noted steady music with ID and
comments between tunes by a male. ".... Radio Tarma ...". Immediately back
to

music. Signal was fair with no QRM. (Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

Brazil, 4755.56,Radio Imaculada Conceicao, Tentative, 1025-1035, Noted a
male in Portuguese language comments which was followed with music. Signal
was weak and faded in and out to nothing during the period. No ID was
heard due to weak signal. (Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

Indonesia, 4749.976, RRI Makassar, Tentative, 1028-1045, Noted music at tune
in. Music continues during the period while the signal fades from threshold
to nil. Believe I heard a female in comments here and there during the
period. Overall the signal was threshold. (Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

China, 4940.00, Voice of Strait, Presumed, 1109-1130, Noted a male in
Chinese Language comments which were probably news items. At 1112 a canned
segment by a female for less than a minute, accompanied with music, then
back to comments by the male announcer. Signal stayed at a fair level

during the period. (Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

China, 5924.915, China National Radio 5. 1128-1145, Noted a weak signal here
with partisans' commenting in Chinese language. On the half hour a

female gives ID in Chinese. Could only recognize the word "national" as

part of the ID. However, on the frequency of 9410 KHz a parallel broadcast

was being presented with a good signal. Here and there, some music was
heard between spoken segments on the 5924.915 KHz broadcast. Signal was

poor on 5924.915 KHz. (Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

China, 5945.00, China National Radio 1, 1145-1155, Noted various individuals
commenting in Chinese language. Signal was fair at times.

A parallel broadcast was heard on 6125.00 KHz with a good signal helping

in identifying the station on 5945.00 KHz. (Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

China 5955.043, China Radio International, 1152-1200, Noted a program in
English language with a number of ID's of China Radio International in
English by a male and female. The Signal was fair to good during the
period.

(Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

Malaysia, 5965.00, RTM, Kajang, 1158-1230, Noted some chatter before the
hour, but at top of the hour quick theme music and ID, followed by news
presented by a male and female. Many, many mentions of Malaysia during the
news. At 1215 the news finished and general programming followed with music
and comments. Signal was good during the entire period. (Chuck Bolland,
March 11, 2014)

Japan, 6055.00 Radio Nikkei 1, 1237-1300, At tune in, noted a male and
female discussing a problem with the enter net in Japanese language. This
format continues during the listening period and onward. Signal strength
and quality changed from a good level to a poor level as the time shifted.

The signal ended up as poor by 1300. (Chuck Bolland, March 11, 2014)

1566 could be HLAZ, FEBC Jeju, South Korea in Chinese.

** BRAZIL. 5999.608, March 12 at 0105, het is back to RHC English 6000, carrier
like we were hearing in late Feb, the Bras?lia transmitter // 6180 (but can`t
confirm that now), which is also allegedly testing in DRM in the local mornings
from 5990 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 9665+, March 12 at 0111, poor Portuguese with SAH or propagational
fading, i.e. R. Voz Mission?ria, now much closer to nominal, but still slightly
on the hi side (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6060, March 11 at 0101, RHC English modulation is cutting out, very
bad.

5025 & 5040, March 11 at 0603, both Rebelde and RHC are off already; is this to
be SOP for spring? You never know with RadioCuba. More and more anomalies!

11760, March 11 at 1402, no signal from RHC, leaving it to CNR1 jamming against
Sound of Hope. 11750 and 15230 are JBM; 11860, 12010, 13780, 15340, 17580,
17730 are nominal, and again today, no 15370 unlike March 9.

Next check at 1504, expecting to find RHC all signed-off an hour earlier due to
DST, but one set of frequencies is still running: 11860, 13780, 15340, 17730
with news, all in synch, while another set is gone: 9540, 11750, 11760, 12010,
15230, 17580. I`ll bet these correlate with the two different transmitter
sites, one of which is tardy in turning off, but they are all gone by another
check at 1518.

11760, March 12 at 0102, RHC Spanish with big het on the lo side, and also CCI
modulation, obviously from R. Cairo at 2330-0200 in Arabic, and from 0045
Spanish, 286 degrees from Abis toward Dominica, Barquisimeto, M?rida and
Medell?n, close enough to QubaRM above and below the beam. Keyboard says het is
C#5 = 554 Hz or so, so Cairo would be on 11759.446 or so tonight.

6000, March 12 at 0105, RHC English has another het here like we were hearing
in late Feb, no doubt the R. Nacional Bras?lia transmitter again, which is
supposedly also testing DRM in the local mornings on 5990. Keyboard note here
is G4 = 392 Hz, i.e. 5999.608 or so, each assuming RHC is right on channel,
which strangely enough is usually the case.

15230, March 12 at 0125, fair signal but dead air; surely RHC again (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 11759.446, March 12 at 0102, distorted and making big het to also
strong RHC 11760, both it and R. Cairo scheduled in Spanish; see also CUBA
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GERMANY [non]. 17800, March 11 at 0559 I check 16m since there are several
signals in the nightmiddle on 19m --- carrier on just before 0600 and DW
opening in English, good to very good with news, via RWANDA, of course (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDIA [and non]. 9690, March 11 at 1350, Indian vocal music is almost equal
level to Brother Scare, probably an equinoxial graylinish boost. I.e., AIR GOS
at 1330-1500 vs WRMI. Guess which I`m rooting for in this unnecessary
collision? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 9775, March 12 at 1505, R. Free Chosun still attempting
to broadcast via RVA Palauig, PHILIPPINES site again, usual very good strength,
but audio cutting on and off, mostly off, except for humbuzz (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU [and non]. 5980, March 11 at 0100, usual fast SAH between R. Chaski,
and BBC via UAE, and some music modulation, surely from Chaski. SAH stops about
0105:04.5* with Chaski cutoff, i.e. 15 seconds later than a trinite ago (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SUDAN. 15530, March 11 at 0557 tone until off just before 0559*. No doubt
leftover Sudanese jamming following closure a bit earlier of R. Dabanga via
UAE, scheduled until 0557* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TAIWAN [non]. 7730, March 12 at 0125-0140, NO signal from WRMI for
publicized PCJ Radio International special fifth anniversary broadcast. All the
publicity said it would be at this date and time, followed by 1330-1430 UT
March 12 on four other frequencies from three other sites; but Jeff White and
Keith Perron soon confirm the correct UT date for the 0130-0230 UT special is
really tomorrow, March 13 = Wednesday night in North America. At 1330, we might
also get 15720 from Madagascar (recently heard at 1430 with NHK Hindi way
off-beam), or even 15455 from Germany; also on 5995 from Germany and 9335 from
Sri Lanka (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K [non?]. 11253-USB, March 11 at 0547, VOLMET by YL robot, with deep fades
so miss some locations, but including: Dakar, Ascension Island, Mombasa,
Nairobi (some of which were not available); 0550 Larnaka International, Cairo
International; 0552 ID as ``Military [something] Information Broadcast``. Usual
strange mix of English and metric units, e.g. visibilities in km, ceilings in
feet, winds in knots; and QMH.

We had lots of logs of this last August, in connexion with the still mysterious
additional RAF VOLMET which showed up for a few days on 11159 (from Canada??
No, nothing on 11159 now again!) See
http://www.dxinfocentre.com/volmet-wx.htm
where 11253 is shown as ``RAF Military 1 Information,`` MKL, but location not
given, so is it UK or Ascension, we ask again? The airports we heard mentioned
pertain correctly to ``slot 3`` until :48 past the hours, then ``slot 4``. Also
check 5450 and something there but not get enough signal to confirm //. See
discussions previously in DXLD 13-33, also 13-34, 13-32, 13-30 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1711 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday March 11 at shifted
time of 1100+ UT on WRMI 9955; very good, with no jamming, so I hope others
awake this early are getting it. It`ll be later on Wednesday at 1300, when on
the NW antenna, I think; and Thursday at 1230 for #1712, I hope (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9475, March 11 at *1355:45, WTWW-1 cuts on with SFAW/PPP smothering
R. Australia, which I heard a few seconds earlier tuning by. Don`t know whether
momentary interruption, or no QSY from 5830 until this time today. Still trying
to determine whether it`s around 13 or 14 UT during DST, but 9930 BS from
WTWW-2 was already on. There`s always been considerable variation (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5110v-CUSB, March 12 at 0114, WBCQ with an `Allan Weiner Worldwide`
repeat --- and he conveniently mentions the date as ``Friday the 13th, the Year
of Our Lord 2013``, so it`s quite an oldie. Also says it`s a ``trimulcast``
also on 9330 and 7490 - but not this time. Before DST, 5110 was not coming on
until 0200 weeknights, but now must be *0100 (or *0055 with IS & ID). Yet this
schedule,
http://schedule.wbcq.com/main.php?fn=sked&freq=5110
which has made DST shifts, shows nothing on 5110 except on Sat/Sun and Sun/Mon
at 2300-0400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
