** CUBA. 11860, Sept 15 at 1339, RHC modulation is breaking up severely; wiggle
that patchcord! Also doing this is 15230 at 1343 check; others OK: 17730,
17580, 15370, 12010, 11760, 9820, 9550. By 1411 recheck, 11860 has recovered
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** IRAN. 11760, Sept 15 at 0343, VIRI good signal with flutter, clear with RHC
absent, listed as Azeri at 0320-0520, 500 kW, 336 degrees from Sirjan, which is
also toward North America.
On the contrary, the intentional N American service in English at 0320-0420 is
on 11780, buried by RNA Brasil, a prime example of clueless frequency
management; it`s 500 kW, 315 degrees from Kamalabad. South Americans at least
complain of the QRM to Brasil.
13650, Sept 15 at 0347, the other VIRI NAm frequency, 500 kW, 330 degrees from
Sirjan, is loud & clear, going from News Magazine about beheadings, to a report
from France about helping Iraqi Christians. Under the circumstances, VIRI
during the few minutes I listen does not seem anti-American, and some of the
voices even have American accents (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** KURDISTAN [non]. 11510, Sept 15 at 0344, Radyoya Denge Kurdistane, as spelt
by Aoki, (in WRTH under Target: Turkey, add ^ over the final e`s) is good with
the Kurdish ululating vocal music we enjoy; also good at 1335 (but probably not
so good in between). Entire span 0300-1500 is 100 kW, 116 degrees via
Kishinev-Grigoriopol, Moldova-Pridnestrovye; plus another 4 hours via France
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

there`s little but Alaska, certainly no part of M?xico. Somestation`s clock is
upscrewed. Possibilities: XEF in Ju?rez, XEH in Monterrey. XEEW in Matamoros;
furthest out but only UT-7 is XEXX Tijuana. Then I have doubts: did they say
``once`` instead of ``ocho`` which I thought I clearly heard? That would be in

being translated on K45EJ in Enid, I referred to its previous RF channel in OKC
as 50 --- but it was 51, while KOPX Ion remains on RF 50. BTW, FCC TV Query
shows KOPX still has no CP for a lower channel; better get with it! (Glenn

** SOMALILAND. 7120.0, Sept 15 at 0327, R. Hargeisa carrier is right
on-frequency, but with more or less continuous LSB QRhaM in Spanish, also right
on 7120.0 with RH as BFO; as amateurs are totally entitled to do not only in
the Western Hemisphere, but everywhere now with RH the intruder. 0329 add some
CW QRhaM, from CO8RR calling CQ a few times; OC lasts until 0331:30 NA starts;
0332:30 Somali sign-on; 0333 Qur`an; 0337 talk; initially fair signal gradually
fades, but still in, to very poor level at 0355. Not really rare with 100 kW,
but still exotic, and I haven`t heard it in a long time since I habitually
seldom monitor at this hour. Too bad there`s no English now, but presumably
still at 1320-1340v, when only in deep winter do we have a remote chance of
hearing that in deep North America.
BTW, the times are wrong for this in WRTH 2014: says signs on at 0300, but it`s
been 0330v as long as I can remember; says SW sign-off is at 1830, but Kouji
Hashimoto in Japan has tracked it almost daily for many months varying slightly
around 1900* except later in Ramadan. Also claims English news is at 1300, and
