** BRAZIL. 11746 & 11814, Jan 11 at 0158 check, no crackling spurs detectable
from 11780.1 RNA/RNB which is extremely strong, so I venture to concede that
they have finally been fixed ---- for now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CHINA [and non]. 11960, Jan 11 at 0157, nice romantic song, fair with
flutter, 0157 Chinese announcement in CNR1 declamatory style. Yes, Aoki shows
the only 11960 station anywhere, anywhen is CNR1, 100 kW, 37 degrees USward
from Beijing 572 site at 00-09 except the Tuesday siesta after 06.

15160, Jan 11 at 0213, vocal music with poor signal, not Spain which is long
gone, and not Australia which has wisely shifted to 15150 for this season, //
17840, since it`s CRI Chinese now on 15160 per Aoki, 500 kW, 59 degrees from
Jinhua 831 site also rather USward. At 0225 announcement and romantic song,
fair with slow fades; 0230 sharp break for announcements, ads? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 9965+, Jan 11 at 0200, R. Cairo is very poor, presumably Arabic; 9905
is very poor, dead air? 9860.0 is poor and JBM, presumably English. Same
English sesquihour to us should be played with improved audibility on Global
24, 9395, later Sunday at 1300-1420 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE [and non] 9935, Jan 11 at 0159, Greek music poor but detectable in
sideband splash from 9930 WTWW-2 which hasn`t quite QSYed yet. // 9420 which is
fair-good. Only with BFO can I tell the 9935 is unstable, so I suppose it would
be clearly motorboating without the ACI (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1110, Jan 11 at 0219, Spanish YL talk from E/W with KFAB nulled
making a SAH of approx. 269/minute = 4.48 Hz, must be XEWR, R. Guadalupana,
Ciudad Ju?rez, Chihuahua, which IRCA lists as a 500-watt daytimer; but Cant?
and WRTH 2015 say 1/0.5 kW. No US SS stations around here, but there is one
further Mexican, XEVS in Hermosillo, 1/0.25 kW per Cant? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1560, Jan 11 at 0227, Spanish gospel huxter dominating, phone
number, and Radio Viva, Ciudad Ju?rez ID in passing, 0228 fuller ID with
jingle, http://radioviva.com.mx

However, 2014 IRCA Mexican Log has XEJPV with 1 kW daytime, slogan as Indie AM
15-60, tho format REL, which really doesn`t match. WRTH 2015 and Cant? have
1560 Ju?rez as 1 kW daytimer, XEJPV, Indie.

On Oct 8 as in DXLD 14-41, in another log I mentioned that ``Radio Viva`` used
to be the slogan on 1560 Ju?rez. That refers to the 2013 IRCA Log. See also
DXLD 14-24 for an ambiguous article about 1560 becoming ``Indie``, but really
Ju?rez? Website I heard axually forwards to http://radioviva.mx/ clearly
Christian, and in the fine print abottom does show 1560 Ju?rez by this name, so
apparently it`s back, or never left. Part of the 7-station group MegaRadio in
CiJz which also includes 1110 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. Channel A2, NTSC, 55.25/59.75 MHz give or take, Jan 11 at 0300 UT I
see traces of video by sporadic E. 6m map shows a few lines across southern US,
northern Mexico, altho not N/S from there to here; 0318 peak fade-in CCI with
some weak Spanish audio. There has been hardly any sporadic-E monitored here
around winter`s minor ``peak`` despite many hours a day of snow on my channel 2
analog screen (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 7375, UT Sunday Jan 11 at 0152, JBA carrier at best from
the Mighty [???] KBC via Nauen, GERMANY. Like last week, it just isn`t
propagating during deep winter with lowest overnight MUFs across the North
Atlantic path (assuming the transmissions are still going out normally). So no
Forgotten Song to be heard. But Kraig Krist no doubt will have program #65
complete 2-hour audio up shortly at:
http://www.kg4lac.com/indexjs.min.htm
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6280-AM, Jan 11 at 0203 check, no signal from Station YHWH;
last heard here Dec 15 on this frequency, and I don`t see *any* other reports
of him since; gone for good? Last YHWH item in hfunderground.com was Dec 9 on
same by Ron Howard (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1755 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday Jan 11 at 0231:03
on KVOH, 9975, very good signal and sufficient modulation with some hum;
following 0222 carrier, 0223 tone and more open carrier, 0225 music pr?lude,
0230 sign-on and program summary. Next:
Sun 2300 on WRMI 11580
Mon 0400 on Area 51 via WBCQ 5110v-CUSB
Mon 2201 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
Tue 1200 on WRMI 9955
Wed 0401 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
Wed 0730 & 1530 on Hamburger Lokalradio 7265-CUSB
Wed 1415 on WRMI 9955
Wed 2200 on WBCQ 7490v
Wed 2201 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5109.68 approx., Jan 11 at 0205, WBCQ with unusually good signal
rather than JBA here, bluegrass music. 0206 Allan Weiner addresses ``Ladies &
Gentlemen``, a trademark of his, referring to 7415, so an old, old, playback,
NBC chimes and melange of other sounds (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12105, Jan 10 at 2211 check, WTWW-3 is off instead of Bibling
Worldwide. It`s always something as one transmitter or another has issues for
lack of proper maintenance. But WTWW-2 is on 9930 with rock music (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1190, Jan 11 at 0218 UT, Rosary in English briefly overcomes the QRM,
from NE/SW, so surely the recent acquisition by EWTN in Kansas City MO, KPHN,
5000/500 watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1220, Jan 11 at 0214 UT, I have a choice not of WHKW and XEB, but of
an E/W station with local sports talk hosted by YL mentioning Senators and
Christian Academy, during a live SBgame pause? And weaker from the N/S, South
Asian music. The latter is surely KZEE Weatherford (Metroplex) TX, 1600/200
watts; the former, perpetual cheater WSLM Salem IN, 5000/82 watts. Its website
shows plenty of sports but nothing specific about tonight, besides ``a little
bit country, a little bit rock `n` roll``. Rather generic team names as above
do exist in the area (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1240+, Jan 11 at 0216 UT, low audible heterodyne still here
against the 1240.0 pileup, looping WNW/ESE hinting at Colorado or maybe
Arkansas. Someone with tight selectivity and antenna aiming, but best of all
proximity preferably in the daytime, might be able to pull an ID (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

DAY-BY-DAY ARCHIVE OF GLENN HAUSER`S LOG REPORTS:
Unedited, uncondensed, unchanged from original version, many of
them too complex, minutely researched, multi-frequency, opinionated,
inconsequential, off-topic, or lengthy for some log editors to
manage; and also ahead of their availability in these weekly issues:

** CUBA. 6165, Jan 11 at 0659 just as I tune in RHC, English program intro is
abruptly cut to Spanish historical promo past 0700, and same on 6060, 6000
briefly, while 5040 is open carrier. Last to go off is 6000 at 0703*.

Meanwhile, at 0701, only 6100 is starting the weekly Sunday Esperanto broadcast
as scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. Finally a half-decent winter sporadic-E opening, as the analog TV
era in Mexico has less than a year left. January 11 opening is in progress as I
turn on and tune in, antenna still stuck at southward, all times UT:

1438 on 2, Azteca 7 bug in UR, animation fades in and out, video only. Probably
usual XHTAU Tampico, Tamaulipas.

1617 on 2, fade-in some more after more than a sesquihour of snow, A&V, Spanish
about Veracruz, SCT promotion for Puerto de Veracruz. Perhaps live, says there
has been a 4.0 sismo (earthquake) there. Captions to the news items include a
logo that looks like API TV, not at all sure of the letters. Anyhow, it must be
XHFM in Veracruz.

1634 on 2, still some CCI, and trace until 1700 or so. Meanwhile, 6-m Es maps
show some skip has moved from southern US to eastern US.

1900-2100 UT roughly, not checked

UT January 12:

0230 on 2, Spanish CCI, also some on 4

0240 on 5, MUF up to here some video, and 4 with music

0248 on 4, seems music video show, video squeezed, YL VJ between them, a little
bug in the UR I can`t make out. 0250 mentions Xalapa, which is also in Veracruz

0249 on 5, news in Spanish, continuous crawler abottom; large square bug in LR
with complicated design in it. I do believe it`s XHAJ Las Lajas, Veracruz as
per Danny`s logo reference

0256 on 4, now behind the VJ can make out program title (?) PLAY LIST, and soon
a TV MAS ID; 0257 shows VERACRUZ. So it`s XHGV, Las Lajas too

6m Es maps now have the opening centered over SE TX, which is a bit too far
east for Vcz to OK

0302 on 6, video MUF up to here with new TRECE bug in UR (just the word, rather
than the old Azteca swishes; Danny still hasn`t updated his national logos
since 2013 to show this). Close-up of singers wielding hand mikes. Per
W9WI.com, the closest 13s on 6 to Veracruz are XHPUR, 100 kW in Puebla, Puebla;
and XHVHT, 24.31 kW in Villahermosa, Tabasco. The 6m Es map would favor the
latter

0312 on 88.1 rock music fades in for a minute or so, and out

0316 on 5, Televisa 5 bug in LR; could be XHGC itself, but there are lots of
others like XHZ in Zamorano, Quer?taro

0330 opening fading, still some CCI on 2 and traces another semihour
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1755 monitoring: confirmed Sunday Jan 11 at 2300 on
WRMI 11580, sufficient. And confirmed UT Monday Jan 12 at 0400 on Area 51 via
WBCQ 5109+CUSB. Next:
Mon 2201 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
Tue 1200 on WRMI 9955
Wed 0401 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
Wed 0730 & 1530 on Hamburger Lokalradio 7265-CUSB
Wed 1415 on WRMI 9955
Wed 2200 on WBCQ 7490v
Wed 2201 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Re: ``1190, Jan 11 at 0218 UT, Rosary in English briefly overcomes
the QRM, from NE/SW, so surely the recent acquisition by EWTN in Kansas City
MO, KPHN, 5000/500 watts.``

Later: I search radio-locator.com on KPHN as I want to see whether their map
puts the transmitter site in KS or MO, but what comes up? 1360 in El Dorado KS!
It is another EWTN station, but call there has been KAHS, per NRC AM Log. It`s
just NE of Wichita. To confuse matters further, station`s address is in Tulsa
OK!! What happens if I search radio-locator.com on KAHS? I get KAHS-LP FM in
Aberdeen WA 106.5!

Bringing up their full list of KC MO stations, we find that 1190 is now KDMR.
That nighttime coverage map cross is SE of KC, i.e. in MO.

FCC AM Query agrees that the call of 1360 El Dorado is now KPHN, since last
August 14, so that change just missed the editorial deadline for the 2014-2015
NRC AM log. And on the same date, 1190 changed from KPHN to KDMR. One wonders,
why bother, and what significance each call has to the Catholic Radio Network
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1540, Jan 11 at 0706 UT, something mixing with KEDA, in English,
ID sounds like ``America`s Best Music on 1540 KWHN Radio``. But letters must be
only fuzzily similar. ABM is a Westwood One syndicated format. Most similar
call is KDYN in Ozark AR, 500/1 watt, but I can`t find a format match on their
website http://www.kdyn.com where it`s apparently a duplicate of True Country
92.7 KLYR.

Googling for other ABM`s on 1540 leads to KBOA Kennett MO, 1000/1 watt; and
WBCO in Bucyrus OH, 500 watt daytimer. KBOA brands itself as Music of Your
Life, which is close to ABM, in case there has been a change. WBCO website
http://wbco.com does not use either brand, but the music format fits (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
