15120 Terrible mixture of ARS BSKSA Riyadh ahead in Bengali, as well as
Voice of Nigeria in English, noted both together at 1033 UT Jan 27, at
S=9+15dB level in southern Germany, Austria, Hungary and Zakynthos Greece
remote SDR units. VoNIG identification at 1034 UT. Followed by a lot of
'joyful' light West African music singer.
Further away of Riyadh's backlobe azimuth signal in southern Europe,
i.e. in Twente Holland in northern Europe, the Nigeria signal dominates of
Riyadh Bengali sce underneath.

In M?nster, North-West Germany, and Twente SDR Voice of Nigeria is clearly
dominating over Saudi-Arabia, strong signal, so likely European beam, and a
whining noise on the audio which is otherwise very strong.

btw. - I wonder if they really produced all the scheduled daytime
programming without airing it at all over months, or if they in fact did
broadcast and we didn't notice. How likely is it that nobody noticed and
reported to the usual DX channels for months, if they broadcast regularly on
7255 1000-1600? Actually it should have been audible at least in southern
Europe in winter. But actually I didn't check more than once or twice at the
supposedly most likely time before 1600 ... even forgetting that when
checking 9690 which I regularly did, but at 1100 or 1300 usually... And are
there any other outlets of VON we probably never noticed? Satellite? FM?
Never ever heard about it.

Nice catch!
The french bit from 1445-1500 was part of the last known Lagos
schedule (1000-1600), aired before on even frequency 9690, and likely via
the old IKO unit. Last heard it there on Sept. 19 (or tent. 20), after a
break since June. Not much later also the livestream disappeared. I'm not so
much surprised that this one re-appeared, after hearing a transmission of
various test tones (100hz-5kHz and various odd ones in-between) on Jan 12.
on 15120, 0750+, which I suspected to be IKO. Watching the test tones on the
famous dutch waterfall, it appeared that they were not really "clear" ones:
so when 1Khz was aired, also a "spur" of 2Khz was aired, and similar
oddities, so they did sound somewhat "dirty", as should be expected from
this transmitter.

RUSSIA RETURNS shortwave - the first step to a revival of high-power
broadcasting?
Today, Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information
Technology and Mass Media conducts regular competition for the right of
broadcasting terrestrial broadcasting.
Among the objects of competition for ?? 8 and 9 as the only declared
challenger state budgetary institutions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)
National Broadcasting Company "Sakha" (NBC "Sakha"), intending to obtain the
right to exercise of terrestrial analogue broadcasting in short wave.
For this purpose, two transmitters to be used with the installation location
in a. Tulagino about Yakutsk: 250 kW at a frequency of 7295 kHz and 100 kW
at a frequency of 7345 kHz for the declared schedule (local time - GMT +
6:00.)
Monday Friday:
from 06.00 to 09.00; from 12.00 to 14.00; 18.00 to 21.00
Saturday Sunday:
from 07.00 to 14.00; 18.00 to 21.00
According to the director of the Directorate of radio NBC "Sakha" Maxim
Berezin, broadcast is scheduled to begin in the spring, most likely - in
May. For our part, we hope that after receiving the broadcasting license
broadcasting can be started earlier.
Add in conclusion that it is in these days of January the radio station
number 1 branch RTRS "RTPTS the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)" in the village
Tulagino where a shortwave signal NBC "Sakha" will spread to the entire
territory of the republic and to reach the most remote corners of the globe,
is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary.

** CANADA. Another correxion: this log was on 900, not 910, so presumption of
CHML stands; fixed:
900, Jan 25 at 0404 UT, station in English mentions Canadian Press, so
presumably news source for CHML Hamilton, vs QRM unlike the clear signal I had
25 hours earlier, despite unfavorable nite pattern (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** PAPUA NEW GUINEA. 7325, Jan 27 at 1414 check, JBA carrier from presumed
Wantok Radio Light, signifying its activity today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** PHILIPPINES [non]. 15330, Jan 27 at 1428, open carrier, 1430 IS/theme and
Radio Veritas Asia sign-on in Urdu with website spelt in English
http://www.rveritas-asia.org It`s via VATICAN, 250 kW 89 degrees from SMG,
good but also with some long/short path echo. Website conveniently presents
info about Urdu and presumably other languages, in Roman transliteration and
English, including the Wednesday shows at 1430:
Phool Aur Kalian (For Children)
Naya Jahan (programe about new inventions)
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TIBET [non]. 11517, Jan 27 at 1417, JBA carrier from presumed V. of Tibet
via TAJIKISTAN still here, and no jamming audible on 11515 or 11520. Nothing
heard on 7348 at 1414 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1809 monitoring: confirmed Wed Jan 27 at 1415:30 on
WRMI 9955, good, no jamming; also confirmed Wed Jan 27 at 2200 on WBCQ 7490,
fair.

** YEMEN [non]. 11860, Jan 27 at 1417, R. Sana`a at usual S9+20 with triumphal
music; 1423 martial music interrupted by an explosion; expecting Qur`an after
brief spoken intro, but at 1457:14 other chanting, still no CTP past 1502, but
keep listening and Maghrib call to prayer finally starts at 1502:40. Now
they`re quite behind the true local sunset times, per gaisma.com: 1458 in
Sana`a, 1459 in Aden (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 690, Jan 27 at 0726 UT, ``La ?nica, FM 99 y 690 AM`` non-ID amid
music. Nothing fits in Mexican or US listings (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1500, Jan 27 at 0705 UT, blues music, in null of KSTP, which
makes it eastish/westish, or at least not NNE/SSW. Several US stations are OLD
or NOS format in NRC AM Log, but they`re daytimers or with negligible night
power. Or I suppose it could even be GOS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
