Yes, that collision conflict has been observed already on conference data on
February 10th, as request #7282.
25 mb towards North America zone 8 IS TOO LOW,

Hi - recently, I did some multi-channel/multi-receiver monitoring with
decoding and recording.
This had been done by two approaches:
* with three receivers of 3 x 5 MHz width and a high dynamic range and
* with one receiver of 1 x 20 MHz width and a lower dynamic range
By this, you may record/play up to 3 x 24/24 broadcast channels (e.g. in
the whole FM broadcast band or on HF from 49 m to 16 m) within a15 MHz/
20 MHz wide range.
I wrote down some experiences, hints and results in a PDF of 22 pages/31
illustrations at:

To show the full potential of such a setup , I explained one example out
of the Aero worldin more detail: In one session, I received e.g. 68.000+
messages by 35 ARINC-635 channels with 3 x FDM-S2 on one antenna with
one PC.
The door is open to many other applications. Suggestions, critics and
further ideas welcomed.

** CHAD. 6165, March 20 at 0535, I`m checking again for Chad, and I do
believe it is back on SW! Unusually, RHC English has CCI in the form of a
fast SAH or a LAH, i.e. rapid flutter maybe 20 Hz apart. At 0542 I can make
out some talk under RHC soft music at the moment, sounds like YL in French.
Both signals seem slightly on the lo side, RHC maybe 6159.985 or so. At
0601.5, RHC carrier cuts off briefly, back on with dead air for a moment
before resuming, but nothing identifiable from the otherstation; by 0627
it`s weakening and 0640 hear only RHC. Sunrise in Ndjamena was 0504 UT; at
12 degrees north it varies only about half an hour during the year. (See my
previous log under CUBA when 6165 before *0047 had no Chad.) .
This all results from earlier reports March 19: Thorsten Hallmann in
Germany, proprietor of Africalist, had something suspected in Arabic at
1845, and definitely French after 1900. Bruce in New York listening via
Twente, heard French going off abruptly at 2005. Thorsten, too: ``Sign-off
at 2005. All the time French talk only, understood "vigilance" and
"terroristes", talk about various candidates of elections. Various speakers
in "clean French", but some of them "African-accented" nevertheless. First
round of presidential elections in Chad is planned for April 10``. See also

In recent days, R.N'Djamena (ONRTV) has been reactivated on its longtime
6165 kHz outlet. Noted by Mauno Ritola, Alan Pennington, Michael Stevenson
and a few others, the station has been heard between 1800 and 2100 s/off.
Some readers may also be able to hear the station in the 0500 time period
(although not here in Australia!) so watch out for it then, too! Actually,
it seems to be a little lower in frequency, with DXers monitoring it on
6164.96 kHz. Chad has upcoming presidential elections scheduled for April
10. I suspect that this reappearance of R.N'Djamena may have something to
do with that. Hopefully, it will continue operations past election day.

An item from Californian DXer, Ron Howard, reporting on a relatively new
station calling itself Radio Lead Africa:
5910, clandestine Radio Lead Africa, 0330-0358*, March 21 (Monday). Carried
their own program; person on phone in vernacular with person in studio
translating into English; technical problems with phone connection; hard to
hear the person on the phone, while the studio audio was good; two
different spots giving their schedule for days and times of broadcasts;
Colombia (5910+) as usual went off about 0257.
My audio is partially clear: "Lead Africa Radio," but think she stumbled
over the first time she said "Radio," just before the "Lead Africa Radio,"
as that was not too clear. My audio, starting with two spots for their

KATHMANDU:?Radio Nepal, the oldest broadcasting agency, is set to provide
24-hour service from August 17.The state-run broadcasting agency has decided to
follow a management reforms implementation action plan in this regard.It was
also shared at a programme in Kathmandu that the government broadcasting agency
was also set to establish a media village in Biratnagar in memory of Tarini
Datta Koirala, the founder of Radio Nepal Broadcasting Services Development
Committee (RNBSDC).Participants at the programme said that the broadcasting
agency would keep up with modern technical equipment and modernise its service
by establishing high-quality shortwave tower.Radio Nepal is running its
programmes through central and regional transmissions through 21 frequency
modulation relay centers across the nation.It also broadcasts through medium
wave and online.Meanwhile, speaking at the programme, Minister for Information
and Communications Sherdhan Rai suggested employees of Radio Nepal to
perform result-oriented works, while praising their contribution to bring the
broadcasting agency to this stage.He also suggested keeping up its functioning
as per the new Constitution.The Minister also stressed the need to submit a
report of works of the government broadcaster every month, while pointing out
the need to launch its programmes up to local level to institutionalise the
republic.Likewise, the Communications Secretary Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, also
Chairman of the RNBSDC, pledged doing everything possible to implement reform
programmes launched earlier to make Radio Nepal a good means of

Phone company blocks access to Radio Tamazuj website
A telecommunications company in South Sudan has cut off access to the website
of the news service Radio Tamazuj, according to Vivacell customers. The company
is part-owned by South Sudan's ruling party SPLM.A user of Vivacell's data
service in South Sudan today explained that his browser told him that the Radio
Tamazuj website ?might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to
a new web address.? The user had no problem accessing another news website
commonly visited by South Sudanese readers.Another reader of the Radio Tamazuj
website said he noticed the problem last night while trying to use Vivacell
data to connect to the site. His web browser told him that the ?server can't be
found,? while other websites loaded fine. The same user also said he had no
problem accessing the website from the MTN network.Users of wifi networks in
South Sudan, many of which are connected to the Internet by satellite
connections known as 'VSAT', are still able to access the website
.Radio Tamazuj's broadcasts on shortwave radio are unaffected and will
continue uncensored. The radio station announced recently plans to?expand?its
broadcast airtime.Facebook users reported they could still access Radio
Tamazuj's news via the radio station's?Facebook page. Fans expressed
frustration with Vivacell. ?I cannot access with Vivacell,? said Felix.
?Vivacell is the most poor in connection and very very slow. Discouraging,?
said Jahim.Customers also complained of recent rate hikes introduced by
Vivacell after the devaluation of the South Sudanese pound.Customer Adraako
Helen said, ?Too slow and bundles has express speed of getting used without
being used.? Dan Njuguna commented, ?Do people still use vivacell data?? I quit
that weeks ago when I realized it was the slowest and most expensive!?Ties to
Lebanese company, SPLMVivacell is majority owned by Lebanon's Fattouch
Investment Group. A minority stake is held by the ruling Sudan People's
Liberation Movement (SPLM)
, whose investment in the company predates the independence of South
Sudan.News reports from 2009 revealed that SPLM owned up to 25% of Vivacell
through Wawat Securities Limited. Additional information about the party's
investment was disclosed in a leaked investigation report that President Salva
Kiir had ordered the party undertake in 2013 against its former
secretary-general Pagan Amum.The investigation report described Wawat
Securities as an ?investment arm? of SPLM, explaining that Wawat took 25% of
the shares in Vivacell and Fattouche Investments Group Holdings Ltd took 75%,
according to a framework agreement between the two parties.However, the
investigation report was unclear about the percentage of Vivacell shares
currently owned by SPLM, referring to other evidence indicating the SPLM's
holding in Vivacell may actually be significantly smaller than 25%. The report
noted also that SPLM leased land to Vivacell at a ?symbolic rate? close to 0
pounds per square meter.P

suddenly signed off today at 1152*, leaving RRI in the clear; at 1148 talking
about a "NBC Bougainville program . . ".`` It seems these two are virtually
zero-beat on 3325.0 so can`t differentiate them by frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK,

3495-LSB, March 23 at 0256 I start monitoring and hear some wideband noise
bursts which may be unrelated. At 0257.5 some rap music starts up, maybe
`novelty` music later, but quite poor and never make out any announcements by
0312; recheck 0319 it`s off, but still noise bursts.

** SUDAN [and non]. 7315, March 24 at 0536, via VATICAN, Radio Dabanga jingle
ID, with jamming by a carrier on 7316.3 (not a DSB tone). In A-16 the 0430-0600
broadcast will be on 11650 via Vatican; 0430-0600 on 13800, switching from
Madagascar site to Vatican at 0530.
Thorsten Hallmann has correlated the carrier/tone jamming for the other
broadcast at 1530-1630 [15545] with the absence or presence of the overt 7205
Sudan transmitter. Last we heard it, the tone jamming was stuck on ex-Dabanga
frequency 15550 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1818, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SWAZILAND [and non]. 6120v, March 24 at 0520, two JBA carriers slightly
apart making double-het with BFO. Aoki shows the two stations on air at this
time are: TWR, Manzini, Swaziland, and SRDA S?o Paulo, BRAZIL (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TIBET [non]. 15573, March 23 at 1327, JBA carrier, presumed V. of Tibet as
latest scheduled via TAJIKISTAN at 1308-1330 per Aoki. No jammer carrier
audible on 15575, let alone KBS World Radio`s so-called North American Service
in English. There is something on 15570, which cannot be explained as anything
but a jammer even tho it`s 3 rather than 2 kHz het away. Maybe deferring to
inaudible KBS on the other side? Or if the KBS signal exist and be any good in
Asia, it does the job of jamming VOT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TURKEY. 12035.028, March 23 at 1402, very poor signal from VOT English to
Europe, carrying on weakly to North America. Consistently off-frequency to the
hi side. In A-16 this will move an hour earlier to 1230-1325, and up to the
usual A-frequency, 15450, which I doubt will propagate much better. Will it

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1817 monitoring: confirmed Tue March 22 at 2330 on
WBCQ 9329.67-CUSB (recheck around 0100 March 23, it`s about 9329.75). Also
confirmed Wed March 23 at 1315.5 on WRMI 9955, sufficient with no jamming (but
at 1355 heard lite jamming vs Viva Miami). Also confirmed Wed March 23 at 2100
on WBCQ webcast; this time the extraneous syllables a couple seconds after the
automated WBCQ ID and before WOR starts, sound like ``day to it``. Checking
7490 itself at 2121, audible fairly but sinking into storm noise level and
increasing daytime absorption this far from Maine. Also confirmed Wed March 23
at 2330 on WBCQ, 9329.955-CUSB.
WORLD OF RADIO 1818 monitoring: confirmed first SW broadcast of Thu March 24 at
1130 on WRMI 9955: tune-in at 1140, it`s very good at S9+10, no jamming (quite
a contrast to a week ago when it was very poor). Next:

5985, 5015, 6915, 7570, 7730, 7780. 5765 is WRMI-8 at 355 degrees, scheduled
00-13 UT, paired with 11825 the rest of the 24 hours, all-BS-all-the-time.
Recheck at 0525 March 24, 5765 is on.
WRMI eclectic music concerts seem rather reliable now during the 14-15 UT hour
in two different playouts on 9955 and 11580, as noted March 23 and 24. Here`s

** U S A. 9275, March 23 at 2010 check, no WMLK, tho neighbor 9265 WINB is
audible. So is WMLK going to stay on with a regular schedule or not? It`s all
old EJOM recordings from years ago, hardly worth the trouble to rebroadcast. I
guess Jacob O. Meyer outranx Ralph G. Stair, as aside from being dead already,
he`s an Elder, not a mere Brother. Hey, I could call myself either one of those

** ZAMBIA [and non]. 9680, March 23 at 1250 I check for Voice of Hope reported
by Bill Bingham, RSA, to be testing daytimes circa 06-14 UT on this frequency,
which is no good in North America at 11-14 due to RTI and ChiCom jamming (not
to mention KNLS Alaska foolishly scheduled on same at 13-14!). Yes, at this
time I am hearing CNR1 jammer // 6125 et al. I do recheck at 1356, seems only
one Chinese signal, and at 1358 mixing in is a tone of slightly more than 1
kHz. Maybe that is Zambia! Everything goes off after CNR1 timesignal at 1400*.
Same check March 24 at 1358 finds no tone.
6065 is the other VOH frequency, at least for tests, circa 06-08 & 14-16. March
24 at 0559 but not much earlier, I have a JBA carrier. Ron Howard was also
getting a carrier maybe with tone at 0554-0614+. Nothing else is known to be on
6065 at this time.
6065, March 24 at 1323, algo S6 and flutter, presumably CNR2 Beijing site as
scheduled 1200-1605 per Aoki; not that I was expecting to hear VOH at this hour
from Zambia, but watch out for it closer to 1600 where it`s not on the dayside.
Has VOH started testing planned night frequency 4965 yet? Aoki has nothing but

recheck. Ron Howard agrees: ``UNID on 4766 returned again! Well heard open
carrier March 24, checked at 1142 and subsequent checking till 1444; some QRM
from 4765.0. Never any audio on 4766. Ron California`` He had last heard it on

Tune in @ 2100 with no signal whatsoever. By 2200 there was a wave sign on the
Perseua screen and some very tentative music briefly rising above the band
noise. Music continued to improve , slightly , but no other audio was able to
break thru the noise. Finally at 2153 I caught a positive ID in English. I
could just briefly make out the announcer saying ?Voice of Hope? . The band
noise was just to high to get any real good audio. If this would stay on the
air for another hour or two I believe that the signal would improve to a decent
listenable level.

Tuned-in late at 2150 UT today,
see monitoring on various European remote SDR units:
ZAMBIA 4965.000 Voice of Hope, Lusaka Makeni ranch tx center site in
Zambia.
Accurate even frequency aligned. Music program and few English language
annmts of "Voive of Hope, 4965 kHz in 60 mb", - heard.
In Spain, Italy, Greece, southern Austria, France, Bavaria Germany as S=6-7
or -84dBm signal.
Weaker at -92dBm strength in Manchester England and Belgium locations, or in
northern Europe.
To compare 60mb reception at 2145 to 2200 UT tonight:
4800 CHN CNR1 Geermu S=9+10dB
4820 CHN CNR Lhasa Tibet Chinese S=9+10dB
4905 CHN CNR Lhasa Tibet Tibetan S=9+10dB
4920 CHN CNR Lhasa Tibet Tibetan S=9+10dB
4949.728 AGL Angola little weaker than Zambia, S=6
5010 TWN / CHN CNR jamming S=9+10dB.

ZAMBIA 9680 Voice of Hope, Zambia.
Good reception of Voice of Hope on Thursday March 24. Test transmission on
9680 kHz heard well from tune-in at 0805 UT through to sign off at 1359* UT,
following a brief 1 kHz sine wave. Throughout the day the signal was
generally around s5-s7, peaking quite often at about s7-s9. A second or so
after VoH went off at 1359* UT, I heard very faint time pips, then silence.
Presume the time signal was from CNR1 as just pointed out by Glenn. But
there was no CNR1 programming audible here prior to that.
