** ALBANIA. 9855, UT Sunday May 8 at 0140, R. Tirana at S8 with travelog about
the ``Albanian Alps``, which can be followed with some concentration (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** ARGENTINA. 15345.345, May 8 at 0147, the ever-varying Radio Nacional in
distorted Spanish about a partido [tonto] de pelotas, mixed with some music
bits, something about 1 de la madrugada. Is on this late only UT Sun & Mon, as
same transmitter runs RAE weekdays until 0500 on 11710.6v (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** AUSTRALIA. 17840, May 7 at 2137, no signal from RA, when there should at
least be a carrier; but 15240 is audible. Shepparton`s transmitter-F, on the 70
degree antenna right toward us, is down! DXLD yg members say 9580 was off
earlier May 7, and Jerry Lenamon, Waco, says 17840 was already absent by 0330
May 7. It`s the same transmitter. Wolfgang B?schel has a schedule from RA
showing they do have a 100 kW Continental, #7 (instead of G), on standby 24
hours, so where is it now?? The three we normally hear are designated C, E and
F, while A, B, and D are OFF.
17840 is still missing May 8 at 0015 check, as is 9580 at 1214 May 8, while
weaker 12085 and weakest 12065 can still be heard, S9 and S5 respectively. The
`day` frequencies run 21-09 UT, and the `night` ones 09-21 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** BRAZIL. 6180.04, May 8 at 0030, RNA is still on at S9+30, // 11780 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA [and non]. 9490, May 8 at 0022, only a trace of bubble jamming, not yet
R. Rep?blica via FRANCE despite some listings, which I think now starts at
0100, provoking a wall-of-noise, but its length is subject to variation (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EGYPT. 12085, May 8 at 0145, suptorted Qur`an at S9; R. Cairo must be on
early, this frequency not scheduled to start until 0200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** ETHIOPIA [non]. I haven`t heard it yet, but reminder there is a new Oromo
clandestine, Sundays at 1730-1800 on 17765 via RMI via FRANCE, which Jeff White
says is Radio Front for Independence of Oromo (RKWO).
This appears to be the website, or a related one:
http://bakkalcha.com/rkwo-bitooteessa-5-2016
So KWO means: Kallacha Walabummaa Oromiyaa
But I don`t find anything about SW broadcasts
(Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** KOREA SOUTH. 15575, May 8 at 0150, open carrier at S3, presumably KBS World
Radio warming up for 0200 Spanish hour direct. This is much better than 15575
can manage for the so-called North American service in English & Korean at
13-15 UT on same 40 degree beam per HFCC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MADAGASCAR. 9600, May 8 at 0023, MWV is still AWOL, when it had been running
one of the `KNLS` English hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO. 1300, May 8 at 0132 tune-in, ``Radio Mexicana, 1,300 AM``, the
latest identity of XEP Ju?rez, and at 0132.5, automated? timecheck as ``7 con
31 minutos``, only a sesquiminute slow (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NETHERLANDS [non]. 9925, UT Sunday May 8 at 0015, The Mighty KBC with some
classic rock, then announcement mentions 1967y; via Nauen, GERMANY, only S6 and
combating storm noise level. Same at 0122 but sounds weaker (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NIGERIA. 7255-, May 7 at 0638, no signal from VON Hausa, which had been
rather reliable from before 0600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NIGERIA [non]. 7415, May 7 at 0638, good signal in presumed Kanuri dialog,
i.e. R. Dandal Kura, 250 kW, 55 degrees from ASCENSION, at 05-07 daily; while
Nigeria itself is AWOL from 7255-.
7445, at same time 0638 May 7, BBCWS via ASCENSION is also good, at 05-07, with
beam change at 06 from 102 to 65 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6935-USB, May 8 at 0014, pirate music, but below the storm
noise level of S9+15. It`s off by 0031 when 6950 Wolverine is doing much
better. This thread says 6935 was Moonlight Radio:
http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php?topic=28031.0
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6950.0-USB, May 8 at 0031, nostalgic music, 0032 Wolverine
Radio ID; 0125 still on at S9+20. 0151 still rock music segu?s, now up to
S9+35! This continues to be the strongest and most reliable pirate (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** RUSSIA. 7345, May 8 at 1135, JBA carrier; checking for Radio Sakha, Yakutsk,
which has reactivated SW for its region on 7295 and 7345, but with confusion
about true schedule: supposedly until 08* and again from *12, but there are
plenty of otherstations on both frequencies which the Russian authorities were
obviously oblivious to. Ron Howard was hearing both channels opening at 0900
May 7, much stronger on 7345 and no QRM then, heard until at least 1000.
Aoki as of May 8 shows this schedule, identical for 7295 & 7345:
21-24 Sun-Thu, 22-24 Fri/Sat; 00-05 Sat/Sun, 03-05 M-F; 09-12 daily. The two
are on quite different azimuths for coverage of its broad Siberian region. At
1135, on 7345 I could also/instead have been hearing CNR Beijing or even Thazin
Radio, Myanmar (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1824 monitoring: confirmed Sat May 7 at 2230 on WBCQ
9330-, CUSB (at 0017 May 8, I measure this one on 9329.90). Also confirmed UT
Sunday May 8 at 0330, about 21 minutes into the program so must have started
around 0309 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, poor in storm noise level. Next:
Sun 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Mon 0030 WRMI 7730 to WNW
Mon 0300v WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW
Mon 0330 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Mon 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130 WRMI 15770 to NE
Tue 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7489.99, UT Sunday May 8 at 0017, WBCQ with J. P. Ferraro on
`Shortwave Saturday Night`, about freedom of speech; FCC is packed with
``digitalists`` who think everything should go digital, ``a bad idea, which
will take free radio away from us`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 3185, May 8 at 0126, WWRB is on again with gospel huxter, but not BS,
and in fact is // 5050, on the last two transmitters Dave still has. 3185
previously had been reserved for The Overcomer only, but this is not even a
surrogate on TOM, totally not // 5765 WRMI et al. Likewise 9370 for TOM only in
the daytime which has been missing several days. So now we wonder if Brother
HyStairical has pulled out of WWRB completely? Which has been unable to funxion
24/7 for quite some time. 3185 is missing again at 1130 when it should still be
audible if on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1480, May 8 at 0131 UT, racecar discussion, perhaps KQAM Wichita, and
no classic country, so is KBXD off again? Recheck at 1148 UT May 8, C&W segu?s
with 4 Hz SAH against apparent open carrier, the latter KQAM? 1159 UT ID as
KBXD Dallas, and jingle for ``Wonderful K-Box in Dallas``, so they are *still*
stunting, and playing next, what else, ``Wichita Lineman``! Guess there is no
song about a Dallas lineman (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1700, May 8 at 0129 UT, still getting hum/buzz presumably out of the
KKLF TX transmitter, mixing with sportstalk from IA or RGV. Also at 1141 UT. It
would be nice if someone in The Metroplex would confirm this noise locally
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 15215.9-USB, May 8 at 0145, 2-way in colloquial Spanish, S3,
including some music from one in the background, INTRUDERS, tho with the 19m
band almost vacant of broadcasters one can hardly blame them (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
