** CUBA. 11830 & 11850, May 20 at 0120, JBA carriers, S3 and S2 respectively vs
noise level, evidently emanating as parasites from 11840 RHC Spanish which is
S9+20. On each of them I strain to detect traces of // programming to the
fundamental on another receiver into the other ear, and believe I barely can do
so.

(My streetlite ignites at *0123 with an RF noise burst, early before sunset
behind an overcast sky) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 9315.00, May 20 at 0117, R. Cairo is S9+20 but no Spanish programming
audible, just motorboating noise.

Probably the worst source for news about the downed plane, which BTW was
uniquely called SU-GCC. Referring to it as ``Egyptair Flight 804`` is totally
ambiguous, as there is one of those every night. ``Flights`` don`t crash;
individual aircraft do (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6965.0-USB, May 20 at 0147, novelty music at S9, discovered
after finding ACI to 6968.5-USB MARS net. 0149 two DJs chatter, or is it one
guy with pre-recorded self? Mentions music for Chris Lobdell to dance to; gives
some titles, also for Skipmunk. ``Hope you enjoyed our short show`` from
[email protected], ``Whatever!`` and off 0152*. More logs of it:

Not one of them is further west than I (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1650, May 20 at 0131 UT, gospel rock in English, presumably KFSW
Sallisaw, which is really tough to hear here, and in two minutes is losing out
to Spanish from Denver or El Paso (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, May 20 at 0059, no signal from R. Chaski, so probably off early
today or completely (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, May 20 at 0114:48, SLBC theme music starts, very poor S2,
just enough to catch the 2+1 mis-timesignal ending at 0115:17.5, right on the
mis-mark as usual; opening Bengali, which is daily at 0115-0130 per WRTH Update
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330-, CUSB, May 20 at 0100, WBCQ is just signing off as usual now
following Blalock the Blaster, voiced by Allan Weiner backed up by operatic
music. Not remeasured now on the NRD-545 but a sesquihour earlier with WOR it
was 9329.978 on the R-75.

9330.33-AM, May 20 at 0107, as I tune back across WBCQ frequency which had
signed off at 0100, here`s Brother Scare, but not the off-to-lo side WBCQ CUSB
transmitter used before 0100. This is S9+20 but undermodulated, in AM and a
different offset on the hi side, so another station? No BS to compare on WWCR
at this hour, missing from both 5890 and 9980; all WWRB frequencies are silent.

Quickly check the three 7 MHz WRMI BS frequencies, and TOM there is completely
not // 9330+: they have others speaking while 9330+ has BS himself. Finally
check WBCQ 7489.93-AM, and it matches // same BS as on 9330+.

I assume WBCQ is trying another transmitter, probably the one previously on
3250v. (5129.9-AM is also on now, this being a UT Friday, with separate
programming, S9 + 10 undermodulated). 9330+ is still BSing at 0148 and sounds
slightly louder. So is this a one-off, or what? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 7520, UT Friday May 20 at 0127 as I tune by WWCR-4, a YL gospel
huxter is informing us that ``Obama is a queer --- we have a tranny in the
White House``, cites Bible. Apparently fortifies this revelation by the
President`s slender build. Huhhh? WWCR sked shows this is `A Call to Decision`
with Butch Paugh. Is that a man or a woman? Better watch out, OM Butch: people
might think you`re a Lesbian. Thank you, WWCR for more pure crap on the air
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1700, May 20 at 0138, romantic tejana music, atop the sports talk
stations, so KKLF Richardson TX; it`s clear of the ``horrible roar`` I was
hearing on May 7-8, but not since, apparently emanating from KKLF itself or
then something in the same direxion. 0142 UT English ID, ``Music revolution,
Kick-1700``. BTW, NRC AM Log shows address for this Metroplex outlet is in
faraway Corpus Christi. Ward Elliott in Richardson has been checking for the
noise too May 18-20 and not hearing it. Says it`s ``the New Kick`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1500, May 20 at 0134 UT, the whistling sound in the sidebands is
again audible, vs soft rock music from algo, and bits of KSTP sportstalk (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 2660, May 20 at 0143 UT, not even a JBA carrier detected from
presumed second harmonic of KGLD 1330 Tyler TX, nor have I heard it for a while
even later in the night. I think it`s not just the summer noise level, so is
1330 and/or 2660 off now? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6946.6, May 20 at 0152, S9+10 open carrier/dead air, as the
occasional RTTY sender is quiet as usual. Thorsten Hallmann, Germany, tells me
May 19, ``Good morning Glenn, your unID carrier on 6946.5 is there again.
Strong in Europe at 0700. 73 thorsten`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
