Please be advised that today 17 July 2016 Marconi Radio International will once
again be on air, as follows: 1115-1215 and 1700-1800 UTC on 7700 kHz (USB mode)
as well as 1830-1930 UTC on 15070 kHz (USB mode.

atop modulation of IS. This has been going on for a month now, first noted June
18, altho before then, there were many other transmission problems including
merely keeping the carrier on the air. It`s mystifying why nothing has been
done about it, as if no one is paying attention, responsible, or technically
competent. Monitors have offered numerous diagnoses, suggestions for
alternatives (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** BRAZIL. 11815.0, July 17 at 0055, music at S3, surely R. Brasil Central,
audible now, but does not run all night like some other 25m ZYs (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** GERMANY. 9450, Sunday July 17 at 0127, S Asian language at S8, closing with
contact info, some P O Box numbers, one city understood, New Delhi. Numbers in
the addresses pronounced in English, some flute music until 0130*. Aoki shows
Gospel for Asia via Nauen, but this quarter-hour on Sundays not accounted for.
EiBi does: Hindi on Sat & Sun (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NETHERLANDS [non]. 9925, July 17 at 0038, The Mighty KBC via GERMANY is
S9+30, really good this week, with some reggae, 0041 DJ Dave from Scotland this
hour. Next hour is Uncle Eric`s Giant Jukebox, pausing a bit late at 0131 for
Kim`s sesquiminute Radiogram beeps (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6950.0-USB, July 17 at 0110, S9 signal with classic rendition
of ``Happy Days Are Here Again``, and another tune before 0115 ``Wolverine
Radio`` ID. Only pirate heard in this session, and this was not on before 0100
scan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. Earthquake report: UT July 17 at 0418:16.5, my computer monitor
and TV screen shake for few seconds. USGS reports it`s a 4.1 magnitude, 21 km
west of Perry OK, and 7.6 km deep, at 0417:59 UT, so it took 17.5 seconds to
get here. Location puts it near Covington, almost halfway to Enid. Another of
only 3.0 hit almost half an hour later, 2 km from there; unfelt here (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** PERU. 5980, July 17 before 0100, JBA carrier from R. Chaski, but when I
retune at 0104 ahead of expected cutoff circa 0105, it`s already off so
autotimer must have undergone a reset earlier during the past six days (Glenn

** ROMANIA [and non]. 7335, July 17 at 0044, RRI with multiple pulse jamming
from the sloppyrators in Cuba, but nothing like the wall of noise on 7365 where
Radio Mart? really is before 0300.
9790, July 17 at 0133, RRI Romanian, classical music hour is playing Orff`s
``Carmina Burana`` --- the really funny part about the swan being roasted
(ustus fortiter). S9+30 here, // weaker 7335. Meanwhile on 11800, the RRI
French service at S9 plays a Romanian song (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** SAUDI ARABIA. 11820.05, July 16 at 2150, BSKSA is S9, better than usual, and
no problem from 11825 WRMIBS, really beautiful Qur`aning by some OM for my nap,
// weaker 11914.997, fair at S6-S8. A good time to compare them to 11860,
presumably Yemen relay, but if it too is at Riyadh, hard to believe, at only

** SRI LANKA. 15629.84, UT Sunday July 17 at 0106, very poor S2 off-frequency
carrier with talk. Aoki shows it`s AWR in Chinese-Mandarin via Trincomalee on

** UGANDA [non]. 15240-, Sat July 16 1737, R. Munansi is still running on WWRB,
judging from the Luganda(?) talk at S9-S6; and continuing at 1835 check (Glenn

** U S A. 7305, July 17 at 0045, S9 open carrier/dead air; must be Greenville
in pre-test for the 0145 Vatican relay in Spanish, to violate Separation of
Church and State; it won`t stay on, and circa 0125 recheck it is not yet back
on, often as early as 0130. At 0045 I could detect only a JBA carrier on the
7425 leapfrog over 7365 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1834 monitoring: the Saturday July 16 2230 WBCQ
broadcast confirmed at 2256 check on 9330.0+, fair. Also barely confirmed UT
Sunday July 17 at 0320 on 1860-AM from WA0RCR, too far below the noise level to
tell anything beyond it sounds like me. Next:

prison, so he says. Lots about sex, misogyny. Talk and music full of
expletives, making me wonder if they are all bleeped by WBCQ for shortwave
airing? I find this website with audio linx to mp3s of three previous shows so

Postal address is in Thompson OH 44086; acknowledges help from someone outside
to produce the show from his ``incoherent ramblings``. Lo-fi voice audio
apparently results from phoning out his audio track. Thompson is a very small

** U S A. 9475, July 16 at 1736, WTWW-1 is on but weaker than it should be with
SFAW; WTWW-3, 12105 is S9 with dead air (what else?); 9930 is off as to be
expected at this hour on a Saturday (but could #2 be on if it wanted to??).
12105, later July 16 at 2115, now modulating French at S9+10; by 0058 UT July
17 it`s very poor at S2 but can detect an announcement in English that this is
in Russian (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** VATICAN. 9850, Sunday July 17 at 0614, Vatican bells, dead giveaway that
it`s VR, poor signal at S3, Slavic opening into chanting. EiBi shows it`s the
weekly sesquihour in Ukrainian, presumably liturgy. Catholix are of course a
minority there, but apparently the #2 religion after Orthodoxism (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** VATICAN [non]. 15370, July 17 at 1245, JBA carrier, not RHC which doesn`t
start till 1300 and is S5-S8 on 15230 with `Cuba Campesina` rustic music.
Instead, 15370 per EiBi is VR in Russian to Siberia at 1230-1300 daily, via IBB
Tinang, PHILIPPINES; violating Separation of Church and State (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 3855-LSB, UT Sunday July 17 at 0117, ham rendering a prayer to a
``Father`` mentioned every few seconds, calling for straightening out
politicians, protecting military, police officers, a protective shield around
America and Israel, etc., etc., on and on, rife with unwarranted assumptions,
as if a god needed an 80-meter rig to hear supplications. Really, it`s a
performance for coreligionists. Finally finishes with NO ID, God knows who he
is, but next ham, K5FEC (SEC?) refers to him as ``Brother Mike``. Could be the
net itself is not about religion, but this is a mandatory overture. Checking
John Norfolk`s last Nets to You as of 9+ years ago, the time and frequency
match was:

but it should be something closer, considering they have to overcome a nearby
storm noise level peaking at S9+40. Here`s another maybe, by time if not
