** AUSTRALIA. 17840 & 15240, Aug 4 at 0432, no signals at all from Radio
Australia, normally good, so off? Unseems low MUF propagation, since 15720 NZ
is good as usual. Still no RA an hour later (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** AUSTRIA [and non]. 9505, Aug 4 at 0358, weak music at S4, seems unknown IS
repeating until off at 0359:20*. It`s AWR in Persian at 0330-0400 per Aoki;
thought 9505 might be Sudan, but would not be on here until 0600 if at all;
transmitter needed for jamming in the interim. Had a carrier on 7205 earlier.

9455, Aug 4 at 0402, violin music at S5, talk in Turkish? Yes, this one is AWR
Turkish via Austria (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL [and non]. 11780, August 3 at 0552, RNA is VP at only S 3.5 instead
of way over 9 as usual, disaudiblizing any spurs, during a geomag storm
reaching G1 level, with K-index of 4 at 0600, 5 at 0300 per WWV.

9955 & 9395, WRMI at same time are poor with Doppler flutter, unusual for
southerly signals, and stronger but also fluttery on 7 MHz band. Yet,
transequatorial 11725 RNZI is inbooming as usual.

11688 & 11872, Aug 4 at 0406, approx. centres of extremely distorted spurblobs,
only S2 but loud, the upper one QRMing 11870 WEWN which is mostly in clear only
by LSB tuning. So that`s plus and minus 92 kHz from 11780 RNA fundamental.
Next: see if it`s also on 92 x 2 = 184 kHz above and below: Yes, but
weaker-sounding S2, circa 11596 and 11974 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO
1837, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BURUNDI [non]. 15480, Aug 3 at 1856 open carrier and ``Huna Idha`at ----``
algo, and off. Arabic ID doesn`t fit for Radio Publique Africaine, scheduled
until 1900 via FRANCE, so apparently did not turn off transmitter soon enough
before feed switch.

15480 back on at *1859 with OC, 1900 opening AWR in Arabic via MADAGASCAR
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15140, Aug 3 at 1858, no signal from RHC, but soon comes on in time
for 1900 English. Are they making a transmitter/beam switch after the 1830
Creole broadcast? RHC websked says both are for ``Chicago``, but it would make
slightly more sense to aim Creole toward Haiti, or at least non-direxional.
Another Creole broadcast, 2300-2330 on 15370 is for ``Buenos Aires``! It would
appear that RHC`s ethno-geographical sense is severely compromised (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420, Aug 4 at 0403, chanting music, so VOG has regained its voice
after previous long hours of dead air (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 9480, Aug 4 at 0358 and continual monitoring until 0424, No
signal ever comes up from African Pathways Radio in English. What`s wrong now?
Are any other broadcasts missing from the one transmitter MWV kept going,
expecting to get the other one operational by now? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA. 7295, Aug 4 at 1200, presumed R. Sakha, Yakutsk, is JBA but enough
to perceive the mis-timesignal again ending 5.5 seconds later than WWV would
have us believe is the real hourtop. I daresay RWM [PBM] would agree, but who
knows about RTZ [PT3?] on 50 kHz? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOMALIA. 7750-CUSB, Aug 4 at 0357 and 0413 chex, no signal from Warsan
Radio, Baidoa. Taking my own WORLD OF RADIO 1837 advice to check for it now,
since Bryan Clark had heard it in New Zealand, presumably longpath for him; but
it may well be irregular. Hargeisa, 7120 is only a JBA carrier, which should be
a good pilot for this starting circa 0330 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 2097.3-CW, Aug 4 at 0423 UT, beacon A sent every dekasecond is
copiable despite being about equal to noise level; from Quartzsite, Arizona
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1836 monitoring: confirmed Wed Aug 3 after 1315.5 on
WRMI 9955, S9 with no jamming. Confirmed Wed Aug 3 at 2100 on WBCQ webcast, but
inaudible on 7490v --- off or propped out?

WORLD OF RADIO 1837 monitoring: confirmed first SW broadcast, 1130 Thu Aug 4 on
WRMI 9955, checked at 1144 poor at only S5-S6 but no jamming; recheck at 1151,
now pulse jamming is atop: tnx a lot, Arnie! Next:

Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Correxion: I wrote the frequency again instead of the time:

11580, UT Sunday July 31 at 0116, this 44 degree beam manages an S9+15 here,
sufficient but not super. A lady is singing a hymn about ``I`m praying for
you`` accompanying self on piano --- sure sounds like Martha Garvin of `Musical
Memories` as heard on WWCR et al., (WINB 9265 sked: UT Monday 0030) but didn`t
think she`s on WRMI. Instead of chatter and another such tune, no announcements
and following hymns are by an OM, a duet, and no outro before 0129:30 WRMI ID.
Later checking WRMI sked, it`s merely `Hymns` for that quarter-hour (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5072.1 & 5097.9, August 4 at 0418, very weak spur carriers from
5085.0 WTWW-2, with rock music at S9+45 instead of `Midnight[sic] in the
Desert`. These plus and minus 12.9 kHz parasites are perpetual. Upper one
detectable despite QRM from some uteroar (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15068.6, August 3 at 1857, JBA carrier here while looking for R.
Marconi International, Italian low-power advertised to be on air 1830-1930
again this Wednesday on 15070-USB, but no trace of that. Someone else had
tentatively reported MRI as near this AM frequency, but MRI says it`s pure USB
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
