** AUSTRALIA. 9580 // 12085 // 12065, Thu Dec 22 at 1405, Radio Australia on
another Thursday opening the secret program `All in the Mind` from Radio
National; this episode guest is yet another American, Steven Cole of UCLA about
social genomix. This half-hour is still missing from the RA online program
schedule until `Babytalk` at 1430 Thursday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 12045, Thu Dec 22 at 0752, surprised to find local KCRC
silly sports talk here from 1390 --- surely caused by another overload mix on
the R75 --- it goes away if I switch from Preamp2 to 1 or no preamp. 12045
minus 1390 = 10655, but nothing there. Half-asleep, I miscalculated the plus so
did not check 13435, but that is a known HM01 spy numbers frequency as Ivo
Ivanov reported last June:
``0655-0750 on 13435 secret/hidden site (Bejucal) Spanish Tu/Th/Sa``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ERITREA. 7175, Dec 22 at 1357, S5-S7 HOA music from VOBME-2 intruder; also
JBA carrier circa 7146.55 from VOBME-1, long path when I am getting 7120
SOMALILAND much better. 7175 JBA carrier still audible at 1515, 1543 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOMALILAND. 7120, Dec 22 at 1356, S9-S6 carrier from R Hargeisa,
unmodulated, or just-barely? QRM at 1359 from a KA5 calling CQ. Better signal
now on long path than I was getting after 0330 short path. 7120 stays on until
1403:35*. Resumes circa 1500, so at 1515 recheck, JBA carrier and still at 1542
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TINIAN. 7195, Dec 22 at 1543, JBA carrier but much stronger than 7175
Eritrea. Must be RFA in Korean at 15-17, ex-7210. What`s IBB doing, invading
the worldwide hamband? No doubt the IARU intruder-watchers are on the case
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5129.752-AM, Dec 22 at 0739, S6-S7 VP signal with talk, WBCQ on a
backup transmitter? Usual one on ``5130`` has been on the high side lately.
Pirates might try to fool us by going on a real station`s frequency
after-hours, but at 0743 it`s an `Allan Weiner Worldwide` playback from before
Thanksgiving, talking with Tom Medlin, plugging his `Amateur Radio Roundtable`
Tuesdays at 9 pm ET on 9330. Allan refers to Tom as ``the Glenn Hauser of
amateur radio``! Recheck at 0758, first seems off, no, still on as JBA carrier
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7730 // 5850, Thu Dec 22 at 0733, WRMI in narration with music,
apparently `How the Grinch Stole Xmas`. Is that Keith Perron? This hour
continues to be unaccounted for on the schedule grid, other than `World Music`
on 7730, supposedly TOM on 5850. Recheck 7730 at 0748 just as it dumps off the
air, while 5850 continues with the ``rump-a-pump-pump`` carol. Quick check of
all the other WRMI frequencies finds them still nominal, mostly BS (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, Dec 22 at 0734, the S9+20 Dead Air Service of Scriptures for
America Worldwide on WTWW-1 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12050, Dec 22 at 1407, WEWN Spanish is instead open carrier, dead air
except for big hum. Same at 1514. Not rechecked until 1721, when it is
Spanishing but still humming. It`s really amazing and disheartening how many SW
stations, including some in the USA, cannot achieve their basic mission of
transmitting and modulating clearly and reliably at the same time (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, Dec 22 at 1509, KVOH is back on after a week off, Spanish
preaching, S9+20 and stable rather than wobbly, different transmitter? No, I
then find this reply from Ray Robinson to my previous report:

``KVOH had an elusive fault with the 17775 kHz transmitter. Now fixed. Should
be back on Thursday with full 50 kW. Ray. Sent from my HTC One max on the
Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network`` (Glen Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search December 22, UT:
666-NW at 1333. Altho it loops appropriately for Japan or China, also seems a
bit unstable, so may be a birdie. No others in complete bandscan, not even
1566, except:

1098-W at 1336, surely the usual V7AB Marshall Islands, probably a bihour after
programming ceased, carrier staying on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4775, Dec 22 at 0735, weak carrier with some talk audible, vs
CODAR, still JBA at 0758. Either R. Tarma, PerĂș, or R. Congonhas, Brasil, both
of which are active. Unless 24h, the latter more likely where it`s already 5:35
am BDT. I should have precised the frequency, as Carlos Gonçalves, Portugal has
reported: ``4774.964 R. Congonhas, Congonhas MG, 2218-2228, 03/12, texto;
22331, QRM do PERU, em 4774.910`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6165, Dec 22 at 1351, a S Asian song by soprano, 1355 another
song with male voice. Hoping for Myanmar, but per Aoki this is a VERY congested
frequency in Asia: CNR6 in Chinese from Beijing; Vietnam-4 in Dao; Thazin Radio
in Burmese; and AIR in Sindhi from Delhi-Khampur site. The last seems most
likely. A better signal than many others on 49m from China (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
