special to S America. The final repeat, 7305 at 0300 to North America, finds no
signal at 0311, and a JBA carrier at 0342. Sorry, but Armenia is just not a
suitable site for reaching North America under the circumstances (Glenn Hauser,

** BRAZIL. 11925.0, Dec 26 at 2226, enthusiastic Brazuguese talk, maybe a game,
VP weak S3, so R. Bandeirantes has normalized its frequency which has been on
11925.2 for months. Next up the dial, R?dio RB2, is still split on 11934.68,
S2. 11925.0 again after 0230 check Dec 27 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** CUBA [and non]. 530, Dec 27 at 0320, surprised to hear Spanish talk about
b?isbol, R. Rebelde // 1180 and a bit of an echo against // 5025. Atop music
from presumed R. Enciclopedia, which is normally dominant, listed 10 kW from
nearest Villa Mar?a, Ciudad de la Habana. WRTH 2017 shows two Rebeldes on 530:
unknown power in Caribe, Isla de Juventud, and 1 kW in far Guant?namo.
Rebelde is also atop my local Vance AFB TIS with fake call K530AM, announced at
irregular intervals, among still running continuous PSA loops, including what
to do when a hurricane is approaching. Oklahoma?
At same time on E-W antenna, 590 is dominated by music, presumably 25 kW Radio
Musical Nacional, La Julia, Mayabeque (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EGYPT. 9900.32, Dec 26 at 2217, weak off-frequency carrier with whine, but
no modulation audible. Surely it`s R. Cairo, 2115-2245 English to Europe as
scheduled on 9900 per WRTH 2017; alternate frequency is 9800, nothing heard.
But also seems to be an even weaker carrier on 9900 even (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

** ETHIOPIA. 7236.448, Dec 26 at 1438, JBA carrier, off and back on, presumably
R. Ethiopia by long path. Nothing from Eritrea (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** EUROPE. 7700 & 9300, Dec 26 at 2216, no signals from Free Radio Service
Holland, which was going to do a broadcast until 2230, not especially for North
America. I read too late that they switched to 9335 to avoid some QRM, but
doubt it would have been audible either. They had also mixed up the date

** GERMANY. 6080, Dec 26 at 0002, two very poor signals mixing, making a fast
SAH, as I am checking for the Radio Mi Amigo 2-hour special to North America
via Nauen. The other one is presumably R. Marumby, Brasil which I expected to
be a problem, but even lacking it, there would not be enough signal from Nauen.
Sorry, doldrums of solar cycle plus low winter MUFs call for a closer
single-hop site, like WRMI. But thanks for trying to keep SW serving North

** MADAGASCAR [non]. 5008v, Dec 27 at 0242, no sign of RNM, nor on the hi side
of 5010. ANGOLA also absent on lo side of 4950. Both off or just awful

2200 `Marion`s Attic` as per schedule. Was checking around 2130 for `French Dog
Radio` as heard exactly one week before by Mark Coady, Ont., presumed from WBCQ
but he got no ID, so possibly a pirate/imposter. BTW, I am now wondering if it
was really `Dead Frog Radio`, a known WBCQ show elsewhen, from the alleged
prisoner.

bigsig from KHAC AZ on 880-USB, none of that on LSB, only this, which has to be
KJOZ Conroe TX, 10/1 kW U4, which has undergone a big change since the
2016-2017 NRC AM Log August deadline which had it as UC:NWS/TLK/SPT - YSR (in
English). It also has an application for 5/l.2 kW U4 and change CoL to Baytown.
Radio-Locator does have it as Radio Aleluya but still old facilities. This
group has more and more AM & FM stations around Houston (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

UNIDENTIFIED. 15080, Dec 26 at 1448, S3-S6 AM carrier. Only All India Radio,
Sound of Hope and an occasional pirate (no more Iran) dare to broadcast within
the off-route aero band, but none listed on 15080. Soon carrier is replaced by
OTH radar pulsing from 15068 to 15090 or so. Suspect the carrier was tuneup for
the OTH radar; is that typical behavior from Russia or elsewhere? (Glenn

UZBEKISTAN 7509.981 regular on odd fq channel in past weeks now.
Earlier in decade the former USSR bcasts from Tashkent Uzbekistan
were always on even frequency.
Voice of Martyrs in Korean language,
7510 kHz 1530-1700 UT now on odd channel:
xx.981 kHz - Maybe could that be origin from Taiwan
or Yangi Yul TJK transmitter instead ?

Enciclopedia regains dominance, no sign of R. Rebelde on 530 as heard 22.5
hours ago. Original format was presenting bits of spoken knowledge as the name
implies, but strangely kept the name with flip to EZL music. Do they have any

** CUBA. 9820.0, Dec 28 at 0129, RHC does it again --- running a Spanish
morning frequency at night, and now making a het with weaker Brasil 9819.4. RHC
is // 9710, and not audible on 11840, maybe still on but not propagating.

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1857 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday December 27 at 2130
on WRMI 15770, good; also confirmed Tue Dec 27 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, fair and
about equal level to wall-of-noise jamming left over from the 22-23 prepeat of
Radio Libertad; tnx a lot, Arnie! As hoped, however, the jamming has abated by
2325 recheck. Not confirmed the UT Wed Dec 28 0030 on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB when
checked at 0058, a JBA carrier, but probably with WOR; and by 0118, very poor
signal from Blalock the Blaster is audible on 9329.93v-CUSB (and much weaker
than 9265 WINB). Next:

** U S A. 15560 & 7780 & 15770, Dec 27 at 1455, no signal from WRMI, but 15440
is blasting TOM in as usual, so daytime propagation is funxional. 2130 check,
15770 is on for WOR. Dec 28 at 0120, no signal from 7780 or 15560, while 7570 &
7730 are VG. What is this about?
The long-missing nite frequency 7780 as heard 24 hours earlier is gone again
and would be propagating if on. Thinking over its long absence, I am now
suspecting that, as had happened a few times before, the transmitter is being
tuned up on its second harmonic 15560 instead of fundamental 7780. This would
also explain why mostly in the daytime, corresponding frequency 15770 has
remained audible. Trouble is, at night, 15 MHz band is not propagating, but I
should have kept looking for it there anyway. Tonight, UT Dec 28 at 0120, not
even Cuba 15230 nor Australia 15240 is detectable (and 13, 11 MHz are almost
dead except for weak Brazilians, and even WRMI is JBA on two 9 MHz channels).
The nominal schedule for XMTR 3 is 12-22 on 15770, 22-12 on 7780, so just after
2200 would be the best time to check whether it appear on 15560 instead of 7780

** U S A. 5129.84-AM, UT Wed Dec 28 at 0138, this WBCQ is on again during what
is scheduled as a multi-day hiatus. A show for Labor Day 2014 is announced;
host says he got a postcard for a radio drawing. It`s `Ramsey`s Roadhouse`,
when it was Mondays at 7 pm ET on 7490 as also announced. Another prize was
Allan Weiner`s book ``Access to the Airwaves``. So for some reason, this WBCQ
frequency is getting more airtime by playing old archive shows, such as this
one, which in the meantime has changed name to `Furthermore 29/54`` (Glenn

** U S A. 7490.00, Dec 28 at 0123, WBCQ host says he got a report from Nova
Scotia, asks for contributions to gofundme.com/deadfrogradio and also plugs

** U S A. 1130, Dec 28 at 0149 UT, sports talk in English on steady and
dominant S9+20 signal, presumed 50 kW KWKH Shreveport, but then fades a bit. I
continue to think their pattern is out of whack, to throw so much signal this

** U S A. 1650, Dec 27 at 1326 UT, on the E-W longwire, I am trying to hear
anything at all from KFSW Sallisaw OK, but main signal is sports talk, ``The
Fan`` no doubt KCNZ Cedar Falls IA, 1330 UT Radio Iowa network news (Glenn

** YEMEN [non]. 11860, Dec 27 at 1445, Republic of Yemen Radio is still very
good S9+20 with some of the great triumphal music they play, presumed via SAUDI
ARABIA. But one must not forget that this exists due to the horrible civil war
in Yemen. Sana`a`s own SW station, whatever the government, never had a signal

UNIDENTIFIED. 2520.01, Dec 27 at 1307 UT, some talk modulation is audible, 1312
UT music. Mod level is not commensurate with steady S5 signal from presumed

UNIDENTIFIED. 3299-USB, Dec 28 at 0145, a few words sounding like a MARS net,
then into digibeeps. A similar unID log occurred 10 months ago: ``3299-USB,
