The only frequency we still have on the air is 9395 kHz at very low power using our generator. WRMI Radio Miami International 52 mins · [ago at time copied] 0300 UTC Friday, September 15 - I went with our Facility Manager, Pat Travers, on a drive through our antenna field today. It was rough driving through the swampy, wet, muddy terrain which reminded me of the safari game drives I took in South Africa a couple of weeks ago. I saw why it is so difficult to repair the damage from Hurricane Irma in the field. There are transmission lines down all over the place, and many of the poles that hold them up need to be repaired or replaced. It is a big project, and our engineers are working on it one by one. We got one more transmitter on the air today (Transmitter 7, 21525 kHz), and we hope to get a few more on the air tomorrow. Runs about a semiminute behind much stronger // 7490 WWCR, but that lasts only until 1300. Substitute hostess calls herself Sam. 9955, Fri Sept 15 at 1345, I`m standing by to hear whether WRMI is still running the 21525 aircheck from Nigeria, or a new Viva Miami? Yes, Jeff says recorded Monday Sept 11 at 2300, so it`s already outdated, but glean these details: generator is 25 kW, not enough for air conditioning and it`s quite hot, but runs office and studio and one low-power transmitter. Max winds doing all the damage to antennas and feedlines were 71 mph, at 9:30 pm Sunday, when Irma came closest, 50 miles to the west. Total rainfall was 17 inches. The dike held at Lake Okeechobee, tho evacuations were being prepared for. Currently a curfew 9 pm to 9 am. Some stores were still/already open, including Walmart, maybe with gas, but shortage elsewhere. 19 out of 20,000 FPL customers in Okeechobee were out of power.
