Regardless of how the Wellbrook is powered, a faulty part on the powerlines will generate RF energy across a wide range of frequencies and act as an antenna to broadcast that noise all over the place. The Wellbrook will pick it up just as it will pick up any other radio signal.
You might get a sense of where it’s coming from by using the loop to try to null it out, but that can be hard with powerline noise, because the lines themselves can carry it for a long way. Sometimes a vhf am radio (like one that covers the air traffic control frequencies around 120 MHz) with a directional antenna can be used to locate the source.
