The offshore radio stations of the sixties - especially Radio Caroline - gave numerous fans the idea to produce their own free radio. One of them became a legend, as he could please Europe's free radio fans with more than 300 shows for "European Music Radio" in over 40 years. He took the step from being a "pirate" to an impressive renter of broadcasting times that can be heard all over Europe. As the station's founder he listened to the name Tom Taylor - as DJ he called himself Barry Stephens. On February 12th, this warm-hearted and helpful free-radio-maker was buried in Semington, Trowbridge, Great Britain. A number of English-speaking radio colleagues have joined forces to create a tribute show about relays all over Europe. An hour-long version of this English-language compilation will be broadcasted by Radio Joystick on 18th of March 2018 at 11 hs UTC on 7330 kHz. ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Wed, 7 Mar 2018 13:41:01 +0100 From: Manuel M?ndez <manuelmend...@gmail.com> To: DX WOR Groups <w...@groups.io> Subject: [HCDX] Fwd: The time of Marconi Radio International's today 7 March broadcast has changed Message-ID: <CAGXt5o_Ym_PePtmfYYrkkC6=Ks4tykDU3B=8s-cs-cnm07v...@mail.gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Manuel M?ndez Lugo, Spain De: "Marconi Radio" <marconiradiointernatio...@gmail.com> Fecha: 7 mar. 2018 1:30 p. m. If 15140 reactivated or maybe on another frequency, expect English to move an hour earlier to 19-20, from Sunday March 11 with the imposition of daylight-shifting upon that running dog of Yanqui imperialism, Cuba (Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 1920, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** KOREA SOUTH. 5918.789, March 7 at 1413, S4-S6 in presumed Korean, music, varying slightly, Voice of Freedom, which Ron Howard has been reporting varying around this reactivated frequency, nominal 5920. This correlates with Ron`s latest report, today: ``March 7 - Voice of Freedom continues their downward spiral. Thanks to input from Dave Valko, who measured VOF at 1053, on 5918.91v, and at 1103, as 5918.902v. My monitoring from 1117 to 1216 had them about 5918.91v, down to 5918.76v. So is it RNM by longpath failing to modulate, or something else? RNM`s other frequency 5010v has not been reported lately, but Ron Howard says WRMI has already started testing 5010 at other hours, so time is running out for RNM DX (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, March 7 at 0707, NO signal from VON which would surely be inbooming if on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** SPAIN. 15390, March 5 at 2017, this REE transmitter is back on after several days` silence, so was it fixed while down? Of course not. Now it has squealing spurs peaking about 3 kHz above and below. WORLD OF RADIO 1919 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday March 6 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG; same time on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB: JBA carrier. WOR 1919 also confirmed Tuesday March 6 at 2030 on WRMI 7780, poor. Resumption of 11580 for this cannot come soon enough for better reception, but maybe not until A-18. BUT, WOR no longer on // 9455 Tue at 2030, instead a gospel huxter now // 9395 which means no Argentina in Italian either. It`s `Walking in Power` which has several more times scattered in the WRMI schedules. WOR also gone from 9455 an hour later, 2130 UT Tue: still // 9395 now with `Hope for the Heart` app plug at 2123 and 2131 it`s `Call to Worship` on both 9s. Possibly these combinations were in error, still not shown on the WRMI skedgrids updated March 2? We`ll see what happen subsequent days and next week. Expect this to start one UT hour earlier from March 12 due to imposition of DST as much in Cuba as in California; never mind not quite yet in M?xico. But from 1400v, that will subtract an hour of ionospheric build-up time in the mornings (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 9980, March 7 at 1538, WWCR is OFF instead of BSing, clearing the way for the 9982.5 fax from Hawaii. Did the FAA ever complain about this WOOB broadcaster messing it up? As in EiBi: 9982.5 0519-1600 HWA KVM70 Fax Honolulu Oc nm The fax is quite strong here, but no comparison to blasting WWCR when it`s on. EiBi`s readme.txt no longer explains what site ``nm`` stands for. In 2013 when I last logged it, EiBi listed the site as `k` which under HWA merely meant Honolulu. I vaguely recall there was a real nm place once cited, but can`t find it now. 9980 WWCR is still off at 1738 March 7 check; could this mean that WWCR has dropped TOM? Hardly likely. The other three remain: 12160 VG, 13845 & 15825 JBA carriers. WWCR still claims to use 9980 all day, and has put up March 11+ and March 26-May 31 planned transmitter skeds: http://www.wwcr.com/transmitter-sched.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) This report dispatched at 1751 UT March 7 ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Wed, 7 Mar 2018 22:17:35 +0100 From: "Wolfgang Bueschel" <dg1...@t-online.de> To: "wor" <w...@groups.io>, <hard-core-dx@hard-core-dx.com> Subject: Re: [HCDX] [WOR] Re - Korea - Voice of Freedom Message-ID: <0467012D3E2A450DB172E8DE4D3F5830@HNPC2> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="UTF-8"; reply-type=original KOREA at 21.08 noted on remote Perseus SDR in Seoul, odd fq station with soft nice music singer in probably Korean language from Hwaesong bcast. 5918.493 kHz, and broadband up to 2 x 4.6 kHz, either side. 10 minutes later on 5918.476 kHz. 73 wolfie df5sx ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Howard" <ron888how...@gmail.com> To: <w...@groups.io> Sent: Wednesday, March 07, 2018 2:49 PM Subject: Re: [WOR] Re - Korea - Voice of Freedom March 7 - Voice of Freedom continues their downward spiral. The original exciter is a commercial D.D.S. I have been home for a few weeks now,...but getting ready to head out again,.... either to Nashville,....or back to Indiana. Not totally sure yet. I'll have to contact Korea and see what is up with the transmitters. Hard to imagine both of the transmitters would become a "drift-o-matic." I'll try to bring them up on one of the S.D.R.s in the area. For now,..... I'm hunkering down for another blizzard here in the Catskills."
