#211 RECEPTION IN S?O BERNARDO SP, BRAZIL - GG66rg
*******************************************************
January 31, 2020 (Time in UTC)
Receiver: KiwiSDR (PY2-81502 SWL - S?o Bernardo SP)
Antenna: PA0RDT Mini Whip
*******************************************************
CLANDESTINE
FRANCE: 15550 kHz Radio Tamazuj, via Issoudun, Arabic, 30/01 1536. Male
communication, interview. 35443 (RG). Tx w/162? Az to South Sudan.

PIRATE STATIONS
BRAZIL: 5995 kHz Unid, just Brazilian songs, no station id. 25552 (RG). A
big question: Why they must use a 49 meter 'productive' frequency? With no
pirate station on this frequency, we have the daily opportunity to listen
Radio Mali with a good signal here in Southeastern BRAZIL. There is no good
sense by the 'owner' of this pirate station.
BRAZIL: 6330 kHz Unid. It seems a 'copy' from the signal of Radio MEC Rio de
Janeiro 800 kHz.
BRAZIL: 6400 kHz Unid. International pop songs. Bee Gees 'Staying alive'.

SHORTWAVE
GERMANY: 15690 kHz Radio Farda, via Lampertheim, Persian, 30/01 1510. Male
communication. ?Radyo Farda?, typical song by male voice. 25432 (RG). Tx
w/104? Az to Asia.
INDIA: 9575 kHz All India Radio, Bangalore, Tibetan, 31/01 1325. Male voice
communication, music, sign-off 1330. 25432 (RG). Tx w/38? Az to Asia.
INDIA: 15185 kHz All India Radio, via Panaji, Gujarati, 30/01 1549. Male
female communication. Typical Indian song. 1600 sign-off. 35543 (RG).
MADAGASCAR: 15680 kHz Adventist World Radio, via Talata-Volondry, Malayalam,
30/01 1529. Begin of transmission, music, female communication, a Christian
song by choir. 35443 (RG). Tx w/35? Az to Southern Asia.

My annual DX get-together (Bruce Portzer)

 Hello everyone
I'll be hosting my annual DX get together on Saturday February 29 this
year. Why not? February 29th's are rare enough, let alone one that falls
on a Saturday. Plus the other Saturdays in February and early March
didn't look like they would work.
Those who have been to one in the past know the drill ? 6546 19th
Avenue Northeast in Seattle, starting at 2pm. Potluck snacks, pop, or
beer is welcome.
Feel free to bring interesting items like radios, antennas, recordings
or whatever to demonstrate or show off.
For those who haven't been to one of my previous get-togethers, the
crowd leans heavily towards medium wave DXing, but other bands (SWL,
Ute, TV/FM, etc.) are welcome. You'll probably enjoy it.
Hope to here you on February 29. If you get lost my landline is
206-522-2521. Bruce Portzer

** CANADA. 223-MCW kHz, Jan 31 at 0712 UT, ND beacon YYW, which is
1000 watts from Armstrong, Ontario (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. Correxion, first frequency should be 11880, of course, not
11860: fixed:

11880, Jan 30 at 2238, RHC English is S9+40 with VG modulation; but
11850, RHC Spanish is S9+20 and just barely modulated; along with its
-10 kHz spur on 11840 rating S9-S8 but with no modulation audible; its
mate on +10, 11860 is JBA QRMing the jamming which is still running
against OCB. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13637, 13569, 13764, 13829 approx., Jan 31 at 1521, FM/AM
spurblobs out of RHC 13700-AM, also with F# tone reconfirmed on my
keyboard above C-middle, about 370 Hz. These would be fascinating
topix for Arnie to explain, but never will admit there is anything
wrong at RHC; or if he did would blame it all on the blockade (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Jan 31 at 1555, RHC is S9+20 overmodulated and
distorted as has been for several days now, at least consistent; while
// 15230 is weaker S9+10 undermodulated and not distorted. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15700, Jan 31 at 1553, CRI English relay is undermodulated
today but no squealyspurs +/- 4 kHz in the sidebands as there were
yesterday. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** MALI [and non]. 13685, Jan 31 at 1519, CRI English with `World
Today`, poor but // 15700 via CUBA; need LSB to evade WINB hybriDRM
13685-13690-13695, yet intermittent carrier 13684.8 QRM, maybe out of
WINB transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Reminder, first WRMI airings of WORLD OF RADIO 2019 are: Fri
Jan 31 at 2300 on 9955; UT Sat Feb 1 at 0130 on 5010, 5850, 7780; Sat
1300 on 15770 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 750, Jan 31 at 1455 UT, talk show mixing with gospel music
from KMMJ Grand Island NE. KMMJ signal is steady from groundwave,
weakly audible all day in KRMG splash; the other from NE/SW fades up
and down slowly, skywave. At 1459 only ID semi-caught mentions 104.3
FM, which corresponds to KMMJ`s tail-wagging-dog translator; and then
1500 USA Radio News, which does not fit for KMMJ with SRN news per NRC
AM Log, but rather KBNN Lebanon MO. USARN dumps to commercials after
only 1 minute at 1501.

KBNN seems unreasonably close geographically to 10+kW direxional
daytimer+ KMMJ, but KBNN is a 5 kW ND daytimer which does not make it
here in full insolation. They are 608 km apart; from Enid, KMMJ is 505
km over superior ground conductivity; KBNN is 484 km.

BTW, NRC Log shows belabored slogan for KMMJ, ``Keeping your Mind on
the Message of Jesus``, surely a back-formation as original station
was not a gospel huxter. Easily found on the first FCC history cards
from 1925-1926 was the original licensee, M. M. Johnson Co. (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4980, Jan 31 at 0639, JBA carrier, suspect WRMI
low-power unit, not on schedule any more. Certainly not East Turkistan
propagating from local midday, and no other broadcasters known on
4980. Most of the time at other chex, no such carrier heard. Of
course, could be utilitarian (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13752.2-USB, Jan 31 at 1518, 2-way in Spanish INTRUDERS
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 1913 UT January 31
