Nothing though on 9696 on May 3 at 14.20 UT,
b u t
9580 KNLS ALS powerful S=9+10 or -61dBm signal in Edmonton Alberta remote
SDR rx.
Modern program towards youth, not right religious matter.
10 kHz wideband audio, nice modulation.
and
7355 kHz Mandarin Chinese too on air from Anchor Point, 14.25 UT,
S=9+25dB or -62dBm strength into Alberta Canada remote RX installation.

SAUDI ARABIA 9695even kHz, R Saudi International Riyadh in Pashto,
at 14.35 UT May 3, prayer sermon program, in remote Delhi SDR rx
location S=9+25dB or -48dBm strength in India.
But according my observation - since some weeks now last -
there is un-clean audio feed to mention from studio to the antenna,
a lot of short audio breaks happen, like loose metal connection
on that 55 degrees azimuth 500 kW curtain antenna dipols
or on their feeder line. 73 wb

** ALASKA. 9580, May 3 at 1413, gospel music, poor, still at 1455, and
nothing on 9695; so KNLS is back on proper frequency after jump to
9695 yesterday. 1459 to dead ait and off.
9730, May 3 at *1459.7, KNLS-2 cuts on after retune from 9580, 1500 IS
and opening Russian, also back on proper frequency instead of 9695
yesterday.
9695 was legitimately on at 0800-1000, so I bet TX-2 was stuck there
also for the intervening transmissions, from own sked:
1000 9580 270 ENG Pac. Rim
1100 9580 300 RUS E. Rus
1200 7355 270 ENG Pac. Rim
1300 7395 300 CHN N. China

** ALGERIA [non]. 6050, May 3 at 0439, beep jamming against Qur`an
service from RTA/TDA as always transmitted via Issoudun, FRANCE. Same
QRM as heard against 7295 in the following hour. Altho rather
ineffective here, certainly no accident and may be more annoying in
African outback target areas.
7295, May 3 at 0545, RTA again with beep jamming here during Arabic
talk rather than Qur`an at the moment, maybe sermon.
Here`s the full A20 sked, to be checked for more beepery. It implies
all Arabic broadcasts are nothing but HQ, really?

Much more user-friendly than HFCC:
http://hfcc.org/data/schedbybrc.php?seas=A20&broadc=TDA
where real ISS broadcasts are mixed in with countless IMAGINARY ones
from two Algerian SWBC sites which have been under construxion(?) for
many years, yet keeps registering skeds, to stake out territory and
discourage other broadcasters who may be fooled.
Now, to speculate on who could be jamming this? Maybe a Ramadan thing,
due to warring Islamic sects. First Google search turns up this:
``Religion in Algeria is dominated by Muslims with over ninety-nine
percent of the population adhering to Sunni Islam of the Maliki school
of jurisprudence. The remainder include Christians, Jews, Ahmadi, Shia
Muslims, and Ibadi Muslims.``
So obvious prime suspects are Shia who consider Sunni infidels. Since
this mainly affects Qur`an recitations, is there a marked sectional
difference in the method or content of these; or at that level should
they be considered identically pan-Islamic? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 7335, 7355, 7365, 7435, 9565, May 3 at 0547, residual pulse
jamming on abandoned Radio Mart? frequencies --- or never on the air
at this hour, anyway. But still wall-of-noise heavy jamming on 5980
and 6030, also vacant of RM. Think how many undernourished Cubans
could be well-fed for the expense of this more-than-useless jamming.
Viva Fidel! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13567, 13633, 13766 approx., May 3 at 1315, spurblobs out of
13700-AM, hardly any program audio audible, at 66-67 kHz intervals.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11760, May 3 at 1601, RHC opening Esperanto, // 15140

two weeks when continued in Spanish. Preceded by Spanish frequency

now scheduled. But no sign of jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

2229.5; fixed:
9830, May 2 at 2210, VOT English is on the air today, but mostly
Turkish fill music, VG via UTwente but with some hum --- not positive
whether it be transmitted thus. But from 2219.5 to 2228, it`s an
evergreen `Turkey`s Tourist Attraxions`, all about the crossroads
of Istanbul. Rest is mostly music, occasional TRT/VOT promos ``with
you 24 hours`` --- really? and 2238 COVID-19 PSA about how to fight
it; 2253 sign-off claiming it`s the 1230 broadcast on 15450, IS, 2256

Subject: [irca] A Replacement DX Test For KBOZ 1090
I posted on Facebook that the KBOZ DX Test had been cancelled and
engineer Todd Clark in Kalispell, MT offered up one of his stations
for a test.
KJJR 880 Whitefish, MT(Kalispell) will test for 1 hour at 10kw non
directional Saturday May 2nd 12:01am to 1am mountain time. It will
consist of morse code, sweep tones, along with various telephone sound
effects
There will be no paper QSL's issued for this test. Only emailed
confirmation. Send an email to [email protected] [1] with
"KJJR 880 DX Test" in the email (You MUST put that in that subject
line so I don't accidentally delete it thinking its spam!). The reply
will likely be a simple email reply with details of the station and
confirming the details of what/when you heard it. You WILL get a reply
from me in due course, please give me some time!
This is done on short notice and being kept simple as to not burden
anyone involved. Thanks to Les Rayburn for creating the test material
and Todd Clark for generously offering up the station. I've already
seen communication between him and the station, asking them to block
out an hour from the logs, so he can tinker around with things at the
tower site.
I know, I know.. we've had a few false starts on DX tests, but I can
only do what I can do.
Any questions? Email me and I'll be glad to answer. Pass this word to
other DX email groups, facebook groups, websites, etc

Great catch in SC! I heard them too here in Northern VA. Must have been the
perfect night for the west. I was lucky also to hear CKLQ in Brandon, Manitoba
with CW music mixing in with WCBS, KJJR and an unidentified SS station..
It reminded me of the "old days" when we had a lot of special tests. The
anticipation and capture of them was such fun.
Thanks Paul for setting this up!

Came up very nice again with CW ID right at 0258 EDT. Heard the 1 kHz tone and
sweep tones earlier as well around 0234-0235. Have some nice audio on the
RSPdx recording to put up on YouTube.
Very fun!
