The license for KIYU 910 Galena, Alaska has been officially handed in and
deleted. Big River Public Broadcasting has largely had it off much of the
last 12 years or so. You can apply for Class D FM licenses in Alaska at
anytime without waiting for a filing window and that's what big River did
because KIYU 910 was not on the power grid and fuel was $6-7 a gallon for
the generator to power the AM transmitter. They'd spent many years trying
to economically find ways to revive it and keep it on the air, but even
with a financially responsible and technically capable GM, they weren't
able to do it.. I was a small part of the team that tried to help revive it.

The AM covered 30-40 miles by day and maybe a bit farther at night \. Now
they have 11 Class D FM licenses.. to give you an example of how small some
of these villages are, 50 Watts at -387 feet more then covers the village
the transmitter is in.

The FM transmitter sites are at health clinics, fire departments, town
halls, etc with an fm transmitter, a box specifically made to receive an
internet feed and satelitte internet.

I credit former GM Brian Landrum with helping get KIYU into the sound
technical and financial shape its in today. He was my boss while I was
there and that was one of my most rewarding and challenging jobs I ever had
while also being a fun learning expierience

A quick skim thru it leads to my observations:

CUBA - there are many anomalies, but a few obvious:
Esperanto Sunday 1500-1530 not only 11760 but also 15140
Spanish 2100-0500 11800 has replaced 11850
English 2300-2400 7380 has replaced 11880

DENMARK - 5805 is already active

FRANCE --- RFPI via WRMI is in French, not English; or
mostly? Has anyone heard them in English?

IRAN --- extra broadcasts for Ramadan are not included

LAOS --- MW only 567; so 6130 is off for good??

TANZANIA --- 11735 is not irregular but has not been heard
for months, unlike 6015 which might be irregular

USA --- AWR - why are there only 3 transmissions listed,
Bulgarian and Italian?

USA --- WEWN typo 9835 instead of correct 9385

USA --- WRNO at 0200-0500; when on isn`t it at 01-04
during DST?

USA -- WORLD OF RADIO --- some strange entries there:
0030 Tue & Sun on WRMI 7730 --- news to me; System D
skeds show other programming

Omits our best broadcast across the continent: Sat 0130 on 5850

Sun 0830 on 5950 --- I don`t think so; other programs scheduled

Mon 2100-2130 on 7290-Sofia! Correct time is 1800-1830, and
site is in dispute, or Romania?

Tue 2130-2200 on 7780?? 21-22 is the hour with NO frequencies
on System D; one of three imaginary WOR broadcasts.

Latest addition to be confirmed is not included: Sun 0300 on 5800

Why don`t they refer to my website which I try to keep as
uptodate and accurate as possible?

Glenn -- Regarding Tanzania on 6015, I don't think it's right to characterize
them as "irregular." I check it quite often, and it's always there. Sometimes
good and sometimes poor, but always there.

Hi Glenn,

Assume Laos being heard last month on 6130.

April 20, at 1224; extremely poor.

April 25, better reception, but still very poor (adjacent QRM), from 1344+.
Language sounded right for LNR.
My very poor quality audio of YL announcer and music at http://bit.ly/3fqNqWB .

Glenn -- Regarding Tanzania on 6015, I don't think it's right to characterize
them as "irregular." I check it quite often, and it's always there. Sometimes
good and sometimes poor, but always there.

Regards,
Art Delibert, North Bethesda, MD

A quick skim thru it leads to my observations:

CUBA - there are many anomalies, but a few obvious:
Esperanto Sunday 1500-1530 not only 11760 but also 15140
Spanish 2100-0500 11800 has replaced 11850
English 2300-2400 7380 has replaced 11880

{but May 8, 7380 in Spanish, English only on 5040}

CLAND: Shiokaze/Sea Breeze, out of date. There is no ``summer
schedule``. It changes every month.

CLAND: Voice of Tibet on only two frequencies? See Ivo`s
detailed schedules. Complete entry says:

VOICE OF TIBET
kHz: 7487, 9897
Summer Schedule 2020

Tibetan
Days Area kHz
1230-1400 daily CHN 9897dsb?,
?2300-2400 daily CHN 7487dsb?,?
Key: ? Variable frequency; ? Irregular.
